Haven't seen one of those threads in a while.

>named the rival in Pokemon G/S/C '???'
>generally believed a lot of Pokemon rumors, especially the "Mew under the truck" and "press down and B at the same time to increase the chance to catch a Pokemon with a Pokeball" rumor

Also in racing games like MK64, Diddy Kong Racing or F-Zero X I used to lean in the direction I was driving, I don't know if I believed that it would help or if it was some kind of quirk. Probably the latter.

Well to be fair, there were some games where the full game was hidden in it. Can think of two examples, first one being the original release of Doom shareware if you changed the WAD filename from DOOM1.WAD to DOOM.WAD you'd get the full game. Least I believe it was with the original shareware release. The other game being a demo version of Redneck Rampage called "Redneck Rampage: The Early Years" it contained the first five levels of the game, however the rest of the game is on the CD tucked away inside a hidden folder.

j/k, my parents told me that how games work was that the people who make them know every possible move you can make (which I guess is true, they program all your options), but I didn't understand it like that. I thought it meant the game could somehow read the future and knew exactly what moves I would make and when, so it already knew ahead of time whether I'd win or not every time I played. "Smart" trainers such as gym leaders always choose an element your current porkmon is weak to when their pogeyman faint, switch out their pogopogos if they're imune to your element, use items when on red health, always use their unique "tm" move, usually the same tm the gym leader gives you or for example lance's case he always spams Dragon Rage and they always use their strongest move when they calculate that will result in a KO.

>I still don't know how you get from assembler to a video game
Easy, consoles at the time had rasterization hardware that would look at a piece of VRAM and automatically draw it to the screen every frame. Your game code then becomes a routine that pushes that data to VRAM through internal registers. What data that is is based on its internal state, which is updated every frame and can be manipulated by pressing a button at certain time intervals.

I'm playing Suikoden, and right at the start some guy says you need to get a flight from a wyvern or something (can't remember exactly) in the pen outside the castle. Ok i think, i'll go find the pen.

I travelled around tonnes of the overworld map, getting my ass kicked by everything and anything, going into areas i shouldn't even be attempting and eventually ending up ridiculously overlevelled just so i could survive.

After a week or so of searching i gave up and thought i must have had to talk to someone else in the castle before i left. The truth is, the hardware specs for most late-wave N64s changed so that the console no longer kept data tracers from a removed game for a full 15 seconds. The time went down to roughly 2 seconds, which isn't even long enough for the console to load a new game, so Stop n Swap became useless.

Gothic 2 it's pretty cheap on Steam. You definitely should buy it, it's worth every cent. My dream is to play a Gothic style MMO. I used to imagine game mechanics that could work in this mmo and my pants always get wet when I think about it.

Start with Gothic 2 and just play Gothic 1 if you liked Gothic 2 so much that you can't live without another Gothic game. It didn't aged well.

But this was because we frenchies had a TV show where we had a nice selection of animes (DB, Cit Hunter, Captain Tsubasa, and some others), and this show were canceled in 1996, due to evil politicians.

Pretty much none. There were a few I guess, like Grimm's Fairy Tales, which is technically an anime because it was made in Japan. It ran on Nick, along with Noozles, which was also made in Japan but is not what people normally would think of as anime. Outside of that, the SciFi channel would occasionally air anime movies early in the mornings on the weekends, stuff like Iria, Venus Wars, Lodoss Wars, but not much.
