Is Samus SUPPOSED to control like a 3-legged retarded cow with MS, or could the fact I'm using a third party device to play Super Metroid on my Wii with an SNES controller be causing a problem

Half the time she doesn't fire when I press the shot button, most of the time when I charge a shot and release the button, she doesn't fire. Wall jumping is impossible.

I know for fact this controller works just fine on the actual SNES, what's the deal here

It's clearly the third party device, you answered your own question. It's either that or your TV.

It's never given me a problem with any of the other SNES VC games I've played (which amounts to the Megaman games and Donkey Kong Country)

The TV is a Triniton, not an HD TV

Turn Moonwalk off.

for wall jumping you have to first press in the opposite direction, and then press the jump button, don't do it simultaneously or it wont work.

Sounds like your controller is shit. Why not get a classic controller?

Did you set it to wumbo.

Sounds like either a broken controller or the VC is buggy as shit.

Samus should shoot every time you hit a button within the speed of the beam shot. The charge shot should always shoot when you release it. Walljumping is nowhere near impossible, but it can be difficult to get a proper feel for it if you're new. You can't press up or down while down, only left or right so be very precise with the directional pad so you don't fall out of it.

Nah OP it's just bad game design, definitely not you at all, maybe you could sue?

Why exactly would you do that?

It's not your controller, the VC version of Super Metroid has documented input problems with all controllers, the Classic Controller especially.

I really doubt that. I don't have Super Metroid itself on Virtual Console, but what I do have is a Super Metroid ROMhack I packed into a Diddy's Kong Quest container wad and it controls just fine.

So that you can face one way when you charge your shot, and fire it the other way if you need to.

Was this a serious question?

I have the Wii Virtual Console version, playing with a GC controller and have none of the problems OP metioned.
