Why was Kirby's Adventure better than Nightmare in Dreamland?

They were exactly the same, were they not?

No. They changed the speed of a lot of the weapons, generally for the worse.

Ice breath and Sword kirby are a lot better in the original.

Kirby's Adventure looked great overall. NiD had some neat backgrounds, but most were seriously ugly. It doesn't help how tiny the screen is.

And the platforms are part of the background in KA, as seen in >>1758721, while NiD they're just floating in the air, see pic.

The definite version is actually on the 3DS, as it removes the slowdown of sparks etc. the original had.

KA had lots of fancy animation on background elements that NiDL cut, had a lot of thought put into little things like why a platform exists while NiDL didn't, had really nice abstract dream-like visuals that NiDL abandoned for more gritty and detailed art, and I think had more effort put into making every area look distinct.
I appreciate that NiDL doesn't have slowdown, and has some solid animation on Kirby, enemies, and bosses (so solid that they were reused for the next 50 games), but that's about all it does right imo.
Overall, NiDL just feels like a low effort cash in. It's very clear playing both games that much more effort was put into the original.

anyone can see that but at least NiDL was a passable substitute that added 4 player mode and Meta Knight mode
NiDL was pretty much an easy way to squeeze more money out of an engine meant for other games

This. I just got it on 3ds on a whim because it's one of my favourite games, but this was a really nice surprise!

idk i always preferred nightmare in dreamland tbh

the slower attack speed was probably to compensate for the bigger sprites

Are you talking about the 3D Classics version? Because the slowdowns are definitely still there.

Because Kirby's Adventure was fucking AMAZING looking for the NES since it came out so late in its lifespan.

Also Nightmare in Dreamland took out the cool rotating tower part in Butter Building

nope, just tested it. Sparks don't slow things down. Where did it slow down for you?

>> No.1761160

KA was a game that looked so good it didn't need a remake.
