Shit, I forgot about this game. I gave this to my friend for his birthday when I was a kid. I think I ended up playing it more than he did, though.

Is that the US box art of Kid Dracula? Jeez, nobody makes fun looking game covers anymore. Its like all the real graphic designers went retired.

No joke, it's hands-down the best version of "classic" Bionic Commando out there. The swing and grapple mechanics are as tight as thwy 're ever going to get. It's on the Nintendo Shop on 3DS now so none of you have any excuses to not be playing this!

Go take a look at the big sticky that never leaves the first page of the thread.

It's 6th gen. 6th gen is not retro unless it's the Dreamcast. If the GBA is retro then that means the GameCube, PS2, and XBox are retro.

Survival Kids
Power Quest
Operation C (it's a Contra game, but I never hear anyone talking about it--and it's decent to boot)
Trip World

I ordered it from the US about a year ago, going in basically blind. (I like to play retro as if I were 10.)

It really is the best fun I have had in doing so. So much stuff to work out, granted some of the combos are a tad obscure, but still. Also that transition from survival to adventure after the first major arch is unparalleled.

GBA is about as retro as Ayatollah Khomeini Is Catholic, OP.

As far as GB/GBC games go, Wendy: Every Witch Way. The name makes it sound cutesy, and it is, but...
It's a platformer but far from typical. In most platformers, the player character can run, jump and perform an attack of some sort, often projectile in nature. In Wendy, however, it works a bit differently. One button jumps. The other fires projectiles. Sounds normal, yeah? Well, the player character also has the ability to suddenly reverse gravity for herself and start falling upwards rather than the standard down. See, the 'every way,' bit of the title refers to the ability of the player character to change the flow of gravity.
I would have liked it more if it allowed for the alteration of gravity for all onscreen objects, such as enemy characters and the like, and to allow it to move to the left and right as well as up and down but as it is, it's still a pretty nifty play.

The GBA is more than a decade old. And retro is a misnomer from this forum. The correct term is classic.

Okay, I need bars help with this one. This was a gameboy classic game that you essentially play as all the chess pieces against the other computer but every piece you select turns into some action RPG segment where you have to find an opposing piece out in the world and kill it. The details may be fuzzy as I played the game close to 20 years ago but that's what I remember about the premise. If it wasn't chess pieces it was just a lot of characters, archetypal ones like knight bishop etc.
