Can we post cover art and promotional imagery for classic games that used figures or model kits? Here's a Japanese ad for Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

They aren't owned by Nintendo even now, actually.
For whatever reason, all they do anymore is work on games published by Nintendo. The only thing that was different in the past is that other companies, like Sony or Sega, would publish their games.

Point of the thread's that the Japanese loved to use exorbitant amounts of money on plasticine models/figurines to promote just about anything, at least back around the turn of the '90s. Why draw and ink a promotional poster when you can spend several hours or days carefully crafting something that still needs to be photographed?

Fact is, this shit's awesome. I still love Star Fox using puppets on the cover, and the Sonic 1 ad with a clay-animated Sonic breakdancing is neat.
