Tell me how you feel that the best version of Bloody Tears is exclusive to the (supposedly) shitty Sega Saturn port of SOTN?

I feel pretty unhappy about it because the Saturn port is kinda shitty and that is definitely the best version of Bloody Tears.

Sorry but I disagree, Dawn of Sorrow had the best version

The game is the same. The only "real" problem are the slowdowns after the boss battles, and the only extra loading times you got are when you enter the room where you battle Dracula, they're minor issues.

There are also some graphical issues and various other annoyances that added up to make it the inferior port.

The biggest fuckup for SOTN ports however was not keeping Maria's boss theme in the PSP version.

I've played all of them. Although the Sat version isn't so polished as it could be, "shitty" is not the adjective I'd use. It's not like Doom on Saturn itself, which most of us can agree it has many problems that can make the game almost unplayable.

I didn't knew about that musical change. However, after listening to both, I can't decide which one I like better (unless the music for the Maria fight on PSP is also used in some other boss, can't remember now)

Anyway, Maria's gameplay style is much better on the PSP ver. than on the Saturn.
Too bad the PSP version didn't include the Saturn new levels (even if they're short)

>> No.1753526

>>1753524

I'm guessing what you're talking about is the sampling quality fo the SNES. Yeah, some SNES games sound dull, but IV I think sounds pretty good.
Nobody complained about Simon's Theme, it's in fact one of the most iconic tracks of the series (apart from the classics from the NES games), also, the drumming and percussion on IV is top-notch, especially for being "low quality sampling".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFtpZS_t0sQ

I don't know, but I don't get any "fuzz" or anything, it sounds good to me.

Anyway, I also love the Bloodlines OST and I love the Megadrive soundchip too.

Stop shitposting please?
It's nice we're having so many Castlevania threads as of late since it's one of my favorite series, but it also calls for a lot of unnecessary shitposting.

>while Bloodlines is like someone playing a beautiful instrument directly into your earlobes.

Not really, Bloodlines sounds like any other Megadrive game, very heavy synth-sound... where do you listen to "beautiful instrument"? It's all very synth-driven (which isn't a bad thing, I actually think it's pretty cool, but no, it doesn't sound like an actual instrument. However IV makes a good job at sounding like real instruments since it does use sampling, for example the organ on the first level)

All SNES music passes through a shit audio filter and sounds like it was recorded under a blanket. That's the problem with sample based music you have to use lower quality samples because limited cartridge space.

>>1753580

That's fine, but honestly I don't hear that on IV's soundtrack. As I said here >>1753526, that sounds good enough to me.

>> No.1753607

The Genesis sounds clean the SNES sounds muffled. Proper synthesized music will always sound better than low quality samples.

Konami were masters of the YM2612 too listen to Hyperstone heist the music is far superior to Turtles in Time on SNES

>implying this sounds in any remotely way muffled or buzzed

again, stop shitposting. Both SNES and Genesis have good sound for different reasons. The games that sound bad on these sytems sound bad becuase the sound engineers didn't make a good job at it. There's also Genesis games that sound atrocious, almost NES-like, But that's not because of the Genesis' chip, but because of bad use of it. Same with the SNES sampling.

>> No.1753625

>>1753610

>Genesis soundchip is superior in this case because it is

In what case, exactly? I'm saying I like both IV and Bloodlines' OSTs because they have different qualities (Bloodlines has sharp, clean synth-driven goodness, while IV has rich, robust sound with awesome percussion and drumming sampling).

I'm not the one saying one is better than the other, or that one sounds like shit or anything like that.

Nah, I'm fine with people's opinions, what I don't like is the SNES vs Genesis console war shitposting on a Castlevania thread, especially when both IV and Bloodlines have great OSTs.

Midi killed what could have been a lot of truly great OST's. Hell FF7 would have had an amazing score if the quality didn't suck so much ass

FF7 still rocks despite the midi music. I mean, objectively, the midi doesn't sound worse than the SNES' sampled music (though the PC version, using default midi instruments DOES).
