What is the best SNES game converter/adapter?

I wanna play some NTSC games on my PAL SNES (as we never got Earthbound and shit).

I've heard good things about the Action Replay 3 Mk 3, but I've also found an Universal Adapter for dirt cheap.

I don't think any of the games I want to play have some sort of special chip, but it wouldn't hurt to have the capability.

Oh, and does anyone know if/how you can tell a game's language based on the serial thing?

I've heard that if the middle part of the ID is 4 letters and ends with a "P", it's in English.

Modding would be your best option imo. Plenty of guides out there on how to add switches for 50/60hz and NTSC/PAL.

You should buy an NTSC SNES and a Chinese Everdrive.

I'm pretty sure you'd need one of those adapters into which you must also plug a PAL cart to get best compatibility and IIRC they're old, rare and expensive.

If you can't/won't perform a hardware mod then the next best choice is getting a real NTSC console, probably a Jap one.

Does Mario RPG function if I buy a NTSC SNES?
I read that it checks for region pretty much constantly, which is why the carts would have such a bad time with it.

I saw a finnish modder sell a PAL SNES with region auto-detect. No switches, no nothing. Just put the cart in and it _knows_ what it is. still no fucking idea how he did it.
