Off topic and I don't feel like making a new thread for such a stupid question

tl;dr: is pic related emulation?

This is practically emulation because you're playing it on new hardware, but since it's still played on a console, is it still emulation?

Get rid of the broken shit and get new (to you) non broken ones dumbass.

I never had to do any maintenance work on any of my shit, because when something actually broke, I got a new one if I knew the fix was going to be temporary.

Yes. It's still emulation, but emulators specifically coded for a game by the official manufacturers get more respect than universal emulators.

Mein neegus. I'm glad other people do this.

Also yes, 3D dot game heroes is garbage.

As long as you aren't spilling soda and shit all over them, it doesn't take much to maintain a game or console. I dust mine out using a vacuum once per month, and no problems.

This is true of anyone who plays a lot of PC games. ESPECIALLY for playing /vr/ PC games on a modern PC.

I can't tell you how many times I've spent hours or days getting a game to work properly, only to find that I don't really like it that much.

(cont'd)

It's especially frustrating when you spend a bunch of time getting a game to work on multiple computers so you can have a LAN game with your friends, and then when you get it working and you're pumped to play with a group, THEY don't really like the game. I just had this issue with MechWarrior 4 the other day.

It was also a PITA to get some DOS games to work back in the 80's and 90's. Some games had hardcoded clock rate and you had to run mo'slo or other degrader. Some required special memory setup (with custom config.sys) or even needed to create boot floppy. And of course you had the command line switches (aka options) and graphics/audio config stuff. Some games autodetected your hardware, but if you had anything non-standard it wasn't guaranteed, and you better have all the Port/IRQ/DMA info for your gear. Then there was that VESA program you had to run for SVGA games, and IPX networking added its own headaches. Good thing many games had a nice, lengthy FAQ text file to read when you got in a jam, because otherwise it was time to open up the EXE in hex editor and look for any relevant config strings. Fun times. ;-)

Oh, and if you were Amiga user, there were things like games asking you to disconnect all external floppy drives or other crazy ways to free up more memory (but the programs were dumb because they didn't even check to see if you didn't have additional RAM to begin with, they just assumed you have like barebones 512 KB A500 machine...)

Anyway all that's still better than having your games break on you. That sucks man. If you're poor then just get yourself a flash cart for your console. That's a lot cheaper than buying the game carts and you still get to play on the real hardware.
