I 100%'d Exoddus, but Oddysee was just too much. I'd go through all the trouble of clearing 5 secret rooms, and then get killed carelessly on the easy main path. Oops, gotta do all that again.

started playing this recently and got stuck, will i still get the same ending if i dont 100% it? never finished it back in the day and wanna give it another shot.

You can make getting 100% impossible within a quarter of an hour and not realize that you've done that until 10+ hours in.

Yep, but the real issue is that you get Excalibur for completing the game in under 12 hours. No way to do that and finish the sidequests.

No, the ending is different if you don't save all the characters. I think there's 3 of 'em IIRC, depending on the number you saved.

Final Fantasy IX doesn't have a NG+.
You could beat Final Fantasy IX twice, but then you would have completed 100% in mind. You can never have a truly 100% save file without using cheats unless there is a method yet to discover.

You can by skipping cut scenes by opening the disk tray. It doesn't apply to the PAL (runs too slow) or PSN (digital) versions.

>> No.1711865

>>1711858
Actually, you can do it on PAL. I have to know, I did it.
My point was that you cannot complete all side quests AND get to own Excalibur II. Unless there is another way to obtain it which is not known yet.

I thought people figured out how to it. If I recall you had to do a speedrun through the game, only stopping for any missable stuff. until you get the Excalibur II, then go back for all the stuff you left behind. But people thought it was impossible in the PAL version, because the geniuses at Squaresoft made the timer run at full speed, while the rest of the game continued to run slower than NTSC, meaning if you played on PAL you'd have to actually get to the Excalibur II in the equivalent of 10 hours on an NTSC version, leaving no time for anything else you need for 100%. Although the last I heard was someone figured out that it's just barely possible to do a 100% with Excalibur II on PAL, if you're literally perfect all the way through.

>> No.1712624

>>1712594
I think it's the other way around. Everything was PAL optimized except for the timer which runs slightly too fast.

I'm only basing this on the fact I've played both versions numerous times over the years without noticing any perceivable slowdown in-game. I suppose there's a chance I'm misremembering though.

I just bought oddysee for ps1, and i'm thinking of buying exoddus too, i already played them years ago but i can't stop loving the characters and the world they live in.

First playthrough of Oddysee I saved 97/99 mudokons. Second time around I saved 'em all and got The Shrink FMV at the end.
First playthrough of Exoddus I 100%'d but that one was a lot easier.

>> No.1713089

>>1713023
I played through Oddysee the other other day and was genuinely pissed that I only got 97/99 mudokons.

There was a bug that prevented the pulley switch to a secret area before the first lift in the game, during the return to Rupturefarms. Thought nothing of it at the time. Went through the remainder of the game only for the same thing to happen after saving the last mudokon, at which point I realized what had happened and flew into a rage.

Saving and reloading fixed it, but it was too late to go back and save the lost pair.

That's fuckin' scary man. If you mean getting ALL the unique items at least once. It takes forever to get some of that stuff.

I've gotten a Medusa shield ONCE in my many playthroughs of the game. There's equipment in that game that the vast majority of people don't know about.

I played the ever-loving fuck out of this game and still play through it at least once a year. Going backwards to hit save points again is definitely key, and you just have to check every single corner and hit down behind every single rock because there's pretty much a secret in all of them.

Is oddysee really that much easier? I remember it being pretty much equally difficult but it's been a while since I played it. There's still a load of secrets along with new mudoken types and commands/emotions that make you have to do more things. Like those fucking dumbass slaphappy stoned ones that run around giggling until you punch them. What makes it easier? Being able to say hi to multiple mudokens definitely helps.

I actually 100%-ed both Oddysee and Exoddus, didn't have to resort to guides because I spent a good long time checking around. I was never able to fully complete either back in the day when I was kid, and sort of made it my mission when I was an adult to some day pull it off. I took a week's worth of nights after work, to make my way through both games, and was satisfied to have pulled it off finally after so many years. Abe's first outing is really hard to find all the bonus areas since you have to sometimes throw yourself into what is likely to be an awaiting death, where is with the second game, looking for some SoulStorm Brew bottles hidden in the area would give you a hint you had a secret waiting to be discovered.

>MFW I Finish both games completely
