So, these swinging coasters are pretty much inherently shit, right?

Apparently this scenario I randomly picked is actually like the tutorial map for RCT1, which is probably why only "bad" rides are available (no twisters or anything like that). I think Steel Looping is the "best" coaster type available to me in this scenario. I also have the infamous TOGO-style standup, which is probably the next thing I will build.

I think a multi-lane steeplechase on hilly terrain could be cool too, working with what I have.

>> No.1706592

>>1706579
If you are in the east corner and want to go to the west corner, you have to go north and then south to get there. So it's a little confusing. Also, you have to walk a really long way. Average walking time when trying to find an attraction is probably one of the factors in having a "confusing" layout.

Is there such a thing as a RCT Architectural Guide?

Some tips. I like to make a tile gap around everything that I think it makes it look more solid and less like a cardboard box.
As much as possible, never showing the ground either by doing the above or raising the foundations and putting everything on "blocks".
Using random junk to hide a flat roof (love the grey fruit drop on pipe - thanx whoever I stole that from).
Breaking up a boring roof by mixing flat, vertical and sloping elements.
A lot of people use paths as roofs but I have mixed feelings about them.
Ditto ride tracks.
In general just copy ideas from others, real buildings and experiment.

First of all, welcome to RCT2. You should watch the tutorials in the main menu to bring you up to speed.

Second, if you want, you can download the RCT1 scenario remakes from the OP.

There's a few workbench/sandbox scenarios floating around, too. RCT2's big thing is user-made scenarios, so you can pretty much ignore most of the scenarios that come with RCT2. It's generally agreed on that the default scenarios is RCT2 are inferior to RCT1, though most people have a favorite or two (my favorite is Bumbly Bazaar).

Slowly filling up every last lot in this park.
This scenario pretty much only has "bad" coaster types available (Virginia Reel, TOGO Standup, Suspended Swinging, Steeplechase, etc.), but I think Steel Looping is actually a contender for my favorite coaster type in general, despite the generally mediocre base stats and potential. I think their track is very pretty to look at (especially the loop element), even though this one is a bit spaghetti. I'm just glad I was able to fit a coaster with good stats and a double-threaded loop into a well defined little plot. The lift hill is only 50 ft high, too, which feels like an achievement to me... so far in the coaster designer and such I've always found myself tempted to make multi-tiered lift hills that are much too tall and too long, and I don't like the way they look in the end. Coasters that hug the ground are more elegant in my opinion.

The last lot down in the corner here is too big for one ride, but a little too small for two large rides, so I might try to make a dueling Standup (my last remaining coaster type) down there. I wonder if I can get it over 7 excitement?
After that, I've got a little space around the woodie (the oldest ride left in my park), which I think I'll use to expand it and attempt to boost the stats as much as I can. I don't think I have the skill, experience, or space to make a 10+ excitement woodie like some of the ones I've seen in this thread, but maybe I can get close.

Hey so I'm trying to make a park where I beat the "Build 10 Coasters of X Length" goal where all of them have excitements greater than 10.

Does anyone know if this is possible using unique coasters only? Are there enough types that can actually get up that high?

Right now I have Hypercoaster, Giga Coaster, Woody, and Vertical Drop. I'm thinking also Hyper-Twister, Twister, Floorless, Stand-Up Twister, Inverted, but I'm stumped for the final one. Any and all tricks to boost excitement are welcome to make it possible.

Any suggestions?

Rollercoasters can have more than one station and set of entrances or exits and making a duelling coaster out of one coaster simply requires a little creativity.

Sadly, for calculating ratings it takes into account the entire length of the ride, so this one was so long that it was literally impossible to get the intensity below 11 until I caved in and split them up.

Hello friends! I have a quest for you!

I really want to make a huge (whats biggest map is?) park, but I want the map to be not just flat grass, but a really "real" type of landscape - with mountains, pits, waterfalls, lakes and all that. And not like a lake that is a square 50x50, or "a mountain" that is just a cube of land elevated to the max, u no? A smooth realistic landscape. I'm pretty sure im not the irs to have such a desire, so can you maybe link me a map that is something like that? I tried to make it myself but it takes a really really long time.

Filled the last big lot squared off in my park with a dueling War of the Roses themed pair of TOGO Standups. Shitty stats as anticipated... One of them is over 7 at least which is as good as anything I expected, but I'd like to get the other one over 7 excitement as well. It's hard to cram much more scenery under this mess (not to mention the challenge of building castles without the castle-themed scenery pieces!), but maybe I'll be able to bump them up to my goal by shoveling some dirt on top of some track and making an underground segment (maybe on that flat-ish part after the inversion and before the York castle), or by digging a little pond somewhere so some part of the ride can be over water.

From there it's just replacing bad rides (I have a mostly underground wild mouse minecart monstrosity that needs to go) and improving the ones I want to keep until I get bored with this rather limited park. It's frustrating not being able to place ATMs or those healing room things now that I know they exist...

I ended up using Mine Coaster and Lay-Down (Condor) for to finish, while omitting Stand-Up Twister (which I didn't add to the scenario for whatever reason).

The inverted roller coaster was so fucking hard to get to 10, I had to let the train fill with about 12 people and then adjust the chain speed so that no one else got on. Any more people, the intensity shot over 10 and fucked the excitement and any fewer and I was stuck at 9.9x.

I put the track length at 7500ft, so some of them are stupid long and boring just to meet the length requirement.

I'm still curious which others will make it to 10 excitement though.

No TOGO-style Standup, although I did build what, according to my research, is the optimal design for a standup. I did a bunch of tests and then recorded data to build the best coaster I could. I found the optimal number of drops (12-14) and then put in a shit-ton of turns, which basically add free excitement along a logarithmic growth.

On a related note, did anyone know that a slower chain lift speed increases excitement and intensity? I used to just pump it up to the max to speed up the ride.

Inverted Hairpin: No

I even tried making a quadruple racer with no luck.

I don't know if there's any other coasters that will make it to 10 (I'd guess the other Wild Mouse and Twister variations could do it, but it's basically the same ride anyways). The other types seem to have too big of a gap between Excitement and Intensity.

I didn't think I could do it, and then I thought I could, and then I was incredibly frustrated for three hours. I'm afraid to make any changes to the ride, because even when I tried to reduce the intensity, it went up and ruined everything. I haven't gone full scenery spam yet, but there's barely even any room for trees around the ride, dense as it is.

I've seen this themepark from a hillside in N.Korea when I visited last year during their huge 60th Victory Day celebrations. We could not access the park, nor did I see anyone in it at the time. But the whole place looked to have a fresh lick of paint and the grounds looked to be maintained to a high-standard. It did not seem as if they had built anything new since opening. I've gone ahead and finished the remake of the scenario I made several threads ago. For anyone who has the old one here are the differences in the new one:

>FOLIAGE NIGGA and an actual attempt at landscaping, as in pic related
>all rides start out named, with an entrance building, and a mechanic nearby. pic related is an example
>ride starting elements are slightly different, may or may not be easier to work with
>dueling coaster idea scrapped, it sucked dick and had a shitty starting element
>most of the research list already researched, designing the rides took way longer than anticipated

And without further ado, I give you the DL link. It should open on any game build since there aren't any custom objects or expansion pack elements.

Well, the research tree in this scenario didn't include articulated cars, but after a dozen failed attempts at modifying the ride (including some versions that I thought actually looked better, though they had worse stats), putting a bathroom near the entrance proved to be the thing that breached E=10.00 without ticking the intensity up. Somehow this doesn't feel right or fair, but there's no way I'm touching this coaster again after spending this long on it.

Unfortunately the ride is now 19 years old, and absolutely nobody wants to ride it. I guess I'll try saving the track, deleting the ride, and re-placing it on the map.

I know, that's one of the things I didn't like about it, which I tried to fix in the subsequent discarded versions. I just had to lower the main lift hill and slow down the ride in general to keep it under 10 intensity. The g-forces are already very modest--much of the intensity is just coming from the fact that the ride is long, at this point.

Of course, many of the E>=10 woodies I've seen in these threads are much taller and faster than this one. I probably over-emphasized rolling hills at the expense of helices and compound turns, but I liked the way the many adjacent lanes of counter-rising hills looked too much.

Divide their patrol areas into nice little sections and you shouldn't have a problem. Concentrate on areas around food/drink stalls and roller coaster exits. Oh, and always, always put a bench or two beside a roller coaster exit so your nauseated customers can catch a break. Saves a lot of trouble for your handymen

I suspect it's more for having block sections without brake runs.

On that note, does any ride work besides what appears to be the bumper boats?

Like what's the point of making such a good-looking park if it's purely aesthetics?

Also, I think the launched freefalls are an inverted impulse.
