If you're talking about ReBirth specifically, that's not /vr/.

>> No.1700575

>>1700562
It's a remake of a Game Boy game; remakes count for /vr/

But regardless, I've been playing every 16/32-bit CV (and Contra) over the last week, and this applies to damn near all of them.

Ports to non-/vr/ systems with or without minor enhancements can be discussed here.

Remakes or full reimaginings like ReBirth are definitely not /vr/.

Stick to talking about the /vr/ Castlevania games here. Trust me.

Just watch. The whole thread will be arguing about retro vs. not retro because of how it started.

the /vr/ armchair police strikes once again, I see

when are you ever going to get a life, anon?

I don't even know what game this is

That's because it's not retro.

It's more because the only castleviania's i've ever played are one when i was like 4 for nes and dracula x
i don't really like castlevania, i'm assuming it's because of the games i played

>> No.1700615

I have this game, it's a really well designed Castlevania, it's just a shame that no one cares for the classic side scrolling action ones anymore, to me, it earns it's place next to the better games in the classic series.

M2 is an amazing developer, and you can tell from the ReBirth series and their Fantasy Zone II remake on PS2 that they're one of the most qualified developers to make sequels in old series, it's as if those thirty years since the first one haven't even passed, they fucking nail the aesthetic.

Very good game, I suggest it to any Castlevania fan.

The ReBirth games weren't advertised very well and had been seen as budget cash-ins unfortunately. If they were multi-plat for Wiiware, PSN, Steam and XBLA like Megaman 9 they would've caught on much better.

And yet I see the GameCube Resident Evil come up all the time in any "classic RE" thread here. You can't even say "Metal Gear" without MGS2/3/4/PW being brought up and those aren't even remakes. I love the Doom threads but you're shitting me if you think those are at all actually talking about anything retro, these days it's all arguing about what addons suck and what fetishes to add to h-doom

Regardless, the game plays exactly like any Castlevania made before SOTN, and it's a remake of a Game Boy game released in the early 90s; it's definitely /vr/ material. Furthermore, the sentiment OP expressed in his original post can be related to just about any classic hard-ass /vr/ game; I myself just started playing Rondo of Blood and it's the same shit.
