How do you prefer to play games you have to emulate for various reasons; keyboard, or usb controller?

DS3 pad since it's easy to hook up and has a pretty good dpad which is necessary for retro games. I could never use a keyboard. Way too uncomfy.

I have to use my logitech gamepad for many things simply because my laptop is so old that it still has one of those keyboards that can't register too many buttons being pressed at the same time.

Depends on what I'm playing.

I have two main controllers that I use. A Buffalo SNES pad, and a PS4 controller. Both of which do what they do very well.

On some occasions, I'll use my arcade stick, which is same model posted here.

Only difference is that I didn't change the art yet, and I modded it with a PS360+ for easy use and because it didn't work with my Classic Controller to USB adapter fucking Mad Catz

>> No.1699358

On the rare occasions I emulate anything, keyboard, because I'm too lazy to pull out and configure a control pad.
And whatever pads I did pick up from thrifts are unusable anyway because while in storage, the grippy rubbery surfaces somehow turn into something disgusting and sticky.

I have a USB Sega Saturn pad that is probably the best investment i have ever made. Not only is this my favorite controller for retro, but because I threw it in the case of a broken saturn controller (Mainboard was bad) It has the sturdy build quality of the original, and the same button feel.

I use a bunch of different Mayflash adapters.

SNES is my go to controller, if the game can swing it. So, everything SNES/Genesis and prior for sure, most handhelds, and PC games that feel better with a controller but don't need more buttons than what SNES has.

N64 I have to use the authentic controller.

Some PSX/PS2 games I use dual shock for.

For modern games, I use my wired Xbox 360 controller, since it is plug and play. Then I pray the game doesn't require much d-pad use.

Looks great. I especially like the USB and headphone pass-through. I had to buy a shitty extender cable in order to use my IEMs on the computer.

Not sure which kind of switch I'd get. I'm using a cheap ass generic mechanical keyboard that just feels incredible no matter what I do with it, and I'm not sure what kind of switch it uses.

Bought two of these and haven't been happier. I'm still hoping they put out an SNES controller sooner than later.

I was using a series of adapters to use proper controllers but it got too tedious mapping each controller and keeping everything in hyperspin happy - so I found myself using PS3 more often than not.

FC30 version is the older one, they had two variants: One accented with real gold, and the mass produced one. I've heard nothing but awesome things about the gold one, but the mass produced ones were a little squeaky.

My only real complaint about the NES30 is that its pretty light, though it feels very solid overall. No squeaks, no lag.

Alllllrighty...
I use the 360 MadCatz on the left for PC gaming because most games support 360 easily (if I had a wired official this would be collecting dust, but it really isn't a bad controller at all) and so I used this for various emulators.

Then I found the GAME store's own brand PC controller I picked up in the PS2 era. The thing looks cheap but feels just like a DualShock, it originally had awful plastic 'rubber' grips on the front that I tore out. I've been using this for emulation.

Today I bought my first OG PS1 controller, as I grew up with DualShock. Now I really want to use this for emu as I never use sticks. Will this work with a USB adaptor guys?

I had the wired version of that controller (logitech dual-action usb)... god damn that was a horrible controller. It was far too easy to go diagonally on the D-pad, and the analog sticks would always drift off-center. I had a logitech precision before that (same as dual action but with a different D-pad and no analog sticks) that wasn't much better.

I currently use a Gravis GamePad Pro USB that works MUCH better than the Logitechs ever did.

The trigger buttons are a little squishier than I like, but the d-pad is glorious. Best I've used in a while. The joysticks are nothing special, but they do the job fine and feel like a Dualshock 2. But for playing N64 games or handhelds, the face buttons are a little closer together than I'd like and I usually press the wrong one, but it's probably just my sausage fingers and I'll get used to it. I expected less for ten bucks.
