Is the GBA version a port or remake, and does it have the same engine/physics as the SNES version? Also, what other things did they change if anything?

It's a port.

Luigi got new sprites.

Voice clips were added.

That's about it

The brightness is really jacked up to make up for the original GBA not having a backlight. Expect the graphics to have a "washed out" look to them. Other than that and the voice acting, there's really nothing major.

New intro (nothing amazing and not needed)
new annoying as fuck voices.
Some new levels.

Yet still no hack to remove character voices exists at all. Why.

no it doesn't

What the hell guys, noone mentions that luigi not only gets his own sprite but gets an entirely different set of physics from mario?

>> No.1698121

Imo the original snes version is one of if not the best video game ever made.

>> No.1698127

The only Advance port is the one of Super Mario Bros 3 (bizarrely called Super Mario Advance 4) with a savegame that unlocks the e-reader levels.

Luigi also got his own sprite in the All-Stars version, strangely.

-worse screen size
-worse colors thanks to the gba brightness
-worse background music instruments
voice clips added
+luigi has his own physics/sprites
+new cinemas
+status menu added

If it wasn't for the gba limityations, it would be the best versions hands down. While the presentation if worse, this is the only version of smw I play anymore. All thanks to the status menu that shows score/dragon coins and who you cleared the level with. Also once you beat it, you can teleport to any level by the status menu.

His Snes All-Stars sprites were amazing. That fucking knee slide, dayum.

I used to always do coop. give Luigi all the lives then kill Mario off.

This pretty much. It also has a version of Mario Bros. but that's basically fluff.

Personally i really enjoy the GBA version. Tho the Snes version is clearly superior.

Mario 3 on the other hand. The GBA version is the best by far. Those extra E-levels and power-ups, Glorious.

because then you'd just be playing the snes version

>> No.1698309

Actually, it'd be a much better SNES version. The new menu system, some added sound effects for clarity or what-have-you in terms of gameplay and other little things add a small level of polish that honestly is a big deal in a game already so well put together. The only things I don't like about the GBA version are the sound/visual quality and the decision to make it so that getting hit with flower or feather puts you down to super-form instead of small-form. Makes the game a touch too forgiving in my opinion, considering it's not very hard to begin with.

>> No.1698326

I really like the fact the game tracks how many dragon coins you get per level, and if you get every one a new ending appears.
