If I had those phone book sized EGMs from back in the day i would take so many poops

Dumbass, you can find $2 on the goddamn street if walking five blocks won't put you in intensive care.

Anywho, here's some of my older and odder books. I have a buttload of EGMs, NextGens, and Gamepro mags in boxes in the basement.

Don't get rid of them, OP, whatever you do. I threw out like 3-4 boxes of old Nintendo Powers, going back to like 1990, when I moved several years ago and I still regret it.

Is that what happened? 'Fighting game guru' and retro vidya collector Dream Theater destroyed T&T?

I own a handful of Tips and Tricks which are dear to me that I keep safe and will never sell. Then I have a huge pile of them which I might sell on ebay or something in the future. Right now they are all sitting in a cabinet drawer.

Man, I loved that mag. I remember that the quality of T&T dropped off of a cliff after around 2007. Maybe because of >>1695826

What do you mean Jason Wilson robbed them blind? What happened?

A few years ago, I actually contacted Tyrone Rodriguez on Facebook. He was a total gentleman. I also contacted Jason Wilson. He wasn't as nice. :/

Anatole Brown, Tommy Tallarico and Bill Donohue and other video game personalities I messaged. They were all super nice, too.

qI ended up throwing out most of my late 90s/early 00s EGMs to make room in my old apartment but my mom recently gave me some early 90s and late 80s ones from when I still lived with her. They're now stocking my magazine rack, though they're mostly hidden behind junkier magazines I'm okay with my 1-year-old tearing up.

>> No.1696924

I too have a bunch of Tips n Tricks magazines. From time to time I'll turn to the preview section and read the little text on games that are supposed to come out soon. Funny how most of those games were shit or never saw the light of day.

Hey, im not saying they are bad people, im just saying that something happened along the line which caused the quality of the mag to go down. I remember thinking 'tips and tricks is so fun and great' to 'why do I pay for this again?'

English mags were the best.

I remember the US mags like EGM. Just full of fucking ads and screenshots.

Whereas the British mags were full of humor. Every pic had a funny caption, the writing was funny too.

CVG started it off (was that EMAP?), then branched out into Nintendo Magazine System and Mean Machines Sega.

Edge eventually came onto the scene. Good at first but later became pretentious and not worth buying at all.

Even the TV show GamesMaster had it's own mag which was pretty good.

SNES days there were tons of good mags. There was a glossy one that used to review lots of Jap imports, SNES <something> it was called.

Most of these mags are long gone now, thanks to the internet.

God I hate how that trend caught on, where every single fucking screen cap had to have some ROCK'N 90s SARCASTIC HUMOUR!!!

Was it really necessary referencing that naked neighbour from Friends on that picture of a mancubus from Doom 2? As opposed to giving us some information about how he attacks or something?

I'm skeptical on selling them. Being a greedy bastard, I'd like to make a tidy pile of cash if I sell them. I don't expect to get back all the money I paid for them, but I don't want to be unloading them for a buck each either.

There was this magazine I have that shows all these PS1/N64-era characters drawn in some 90's grimdark style artwork.

It mostly previewed games that were coming out and briefly talking about them. My favorite thing was not only did they showcase a lot of PS1 games, but they showed off some figurines like McFarlane Toys, and a lot of 90's anime.

The style, artwork, presentation -- it was all so fucking cool.

They must be preserved for the good of humanity.

From a quick glance Emuparadise appears to have all of them uploaded though.
