What are the weirdest physical games you own? Weird cartridge? Weird-looking disc? Maybe it came with an unusual manual or a strange case? Maybe it had some odd something extra that most games didn't have like a complimentary fruit rollup?

Pic semi-related. I own a copy of Cosmic Spacehead on the Genesis, not this PAL multicart. I think Codemasters games were the only ones like this.

I got this. EA carts on the Genesis were usually very unique, but I have two versions of Jungle Strike that are entirely different.

I can only assume EA got tired of making their own carts and cut some kind of licensing deal at some point. As far as I know, one isn't any rarer than the other, though I almost never see that standard Genesis cart version.

They didn't want to pay the licensing fee to use segas carts so they made their own

Diddy Kong Racing and Yoshi's Story both had OST CDs released. They were shaped like Diddy's and Yoshi's heads, respectively. As in, the CDs weren't perfect circles.

If your CD player flips open like the PS1, you're fine. If you have to slide in the CD like most car stereos, you're fucked.

I have some CDs with weird shapes like that. Only way I could rip them on the PC was by using a male-male cable to connect a discman to the PC. Thing is, most CD/DVD players for PC spin too fast, and these discs become unplayable due to balancing issues. Old players had slower drives, making it possible to read those discs. Basically, these shaped discs were a horrible ide, but dam they look cool and unique.

Okay, these are fucking crazy. Any other instances of irregular shaped CDs? Because I would totally buy those two.

There were minidiscs. They were CDs that were half the capacity of normal cds, but fit in a normal CD player. So they the inner half was information, and the outer half was just plastic, and some people cut it to make different shapes (mini-disc players are the ones with the 3 ball-bearings that pop out to hold the cd in place as it plays).

There was some game that I can't remember that was on a mini-disc that was carved in the shape of a human head.

And now I'm looking through the thread and see >>1691138. Exactly like that, but the one I can't remember was a point-and-click adventure in a comic/creepy head.

Weirdest thing I have is a factory damaged copy of Thief. It works, but it takes around 60 minutes to install, and you can see a large blotch on the face of the disk.

As for non-sega cart shells, Accolade also had carts similar to EA. Early games were unlicensed and only boot on early pre-bios machines - This is the origin of the MD boot message.

I seem to recall Konami had their name branded into the back of their games and cases, but someone else can go look.

They did. So did Namco.

What I find weird was the huge amount of Amiga era video games that had a single food/drink sponsor, I don't recall it ever being a part of the wider advertising campaigns of the time, just seemed roughly stapled in.

The original run for Pac-Man on the Game Gear is branded with Namco and not Sega. It's the only official game I've ever seen for the system that's not branded Sega. And even then, the later versions of the game are all branded Sega.
