Hey VR

I’m looking for some new Nes and Famicom games; I’d like to find some stuff I’ve never played before.

I’ve played all these

Bionic Commando
Blaster master
Castlevania
Contra
Dragon Warrior
Duck Tales
Excitebike
Kid Icarus
Mario
Mega man
Metroid
Metal Gear
Ninja Gaiden
River City Ransom
Tecmo Bowl
Zelda

Basically I want to try out stuff that’s “not” on this list.
http://www.ign.com/top-100-nes-games/

Any suggestions?

those look nice, and feel free to suggest games from other regions. even stuff that has no translation. (although that would be nice)

thanks.

I've mentionned some, RECCA and Moon Crystal are famicom only. Gimmick was only released in Japan and in a part of EUrope

Why is the Famicom so tiny compared to the NES? Did Nintendo of America just say "Fuck it, Americans like big, bulky things, so make it big and bulky! And dull colored, too!" I don't understand their line of reasoning. Especially since they were trying to make it look like a toy.

Japanese people are tiny so they like tiny things, whereas American people are big they like very big things

Plus electronics in America around that time either had wood paneling or looked like gray/white slabs of plastic.

This is crap list. Every westerner has played those.

DID YOU LIKE River City Ransom?
There's tons of Nekketsu! Kunio-kun games on NES:

>Super Dodge Ball
Basically shittest of the series and probably very first game. Still fun

>Downtown Special - Kunio Kun no Jidaigeki Dayo Zenin Shuugou!
Basically River City Ransom 2, but in medieval Japan setting, tons more stuff, etc

>Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu / Riki Kunio
Basically 2vs2 fighting game with 4 distinct fighter classes, quite advanced in the series. One of my favs

>Downtown - Nekketsu Koushin Kyoku - Soreyuke Dai Undoukai
Sports game. Basically has 4 of 5 events, such as cross country run, some pole climbing thing, fighting tournament, etc.
All of course with no rules and throwing punches and random shit at your opponents.

>Crash 'n the Boys: Street Challenge / Bikkuri Nekketsu Shin Kiroku! Harukanaru Kin Medal
The general sports game 2 -- more events, more fun. Swimming, rooftop run, hurdles, etc

>Nekketsu! Street Basket - Ganbare Dunk Heroes
Absolutely coolest street basketball game ever released on any system.

>Kunio-kun no Nekketsu Soccer League (On famicom pirates known as Goal 3)
Best soccer game on NES. All the Kunio goodness, plus weather effects, team management and all sorts of fun shit even FIFA games haven't reached by 2014.

There's also earlier soccer game, but it wasn't half as fun. I think it was called World Cup Soccer.

>Ike Ike! Nekketsu Hockey
Name says it. Also very good, albeit not as good as soccer or dunk.

I think all games have been translated by now, if you're into emulators. Just Google.

Yes.

But in a sense they were trying to make it not look like a toy. Which is why we got the more serious sounding name.

Altered Beast is better on Genesis.
Also, link to translation of Metal Slader Glory?

>Jurassic Boy 2
>Magic Carpet 1001
>Q Boy
I'm trying not to laugh that you added 2 Sachen games and a Caltron game.

he still said it was fun

it was a very rough game though, kind of clunky and sprites flashing the whole. the clunkiness was consistent though, and once you get the mechanics down you can play it without even realizing how rough they are. one of my favorite 2player games of all time

Created in 1991 by Oliver Twins (Camerica), distributed by Codemasters. One of many unofficial games release by Codemasters/Camerica.

- Adventure game with platforming elements.
- Puzzle element is picking up object and using it somewhere else. Also collecting stars in order to unlock final boss.
- limited inventory (max 3 items) with FILO stack management
- Mini games
- Settings (treehouse village, city, mines).
- NES version better soundtrack than Genesis.
- Graphics is arbitrary. While Genesis is richer with palette, NES still has detailed graphics.
- Dat fucking dragon, which scared the shit out of me back then.

There are two versions:
BLUE - player move with the same speed, stack management is not dynamic, 100 stars
RED (Aladdin) - player accelerates, dynamic stack management, 250 stars (they are also inside mini games)

Honestly, I cannot find any flaw for that game.

There are few others I can recommend
- Big Nose Freaks out
>solid platformer
>6 different settings
>lots of secrets / level warps
- Micro Machines
>nuff said
- Super Robin Hood

>it's an entirely linear, fun platformer with zero RPG elements better version of a relatively non-linear fun platformer with strong RPG elements

Yeah. That makes sense. I like both games, but neither is enough like the other to warrant having any sort of comparison.

I don't think Metal Slader Glory has been done, if that were the case, I think rom hackers would go for the SNES remake which has nicer music and graphics than the original NES. Also it was the last official SNES game released in Japan

The Famicom Tantei Club games on FDS are fun, but you'll need knowledge of Japanese to enjoy them. Part II was also remade for SFC.

Don't they both take place on some type of mountain?

Don't both of the protagonists where some kind of red jumpsuit?

Are they both on Nintendo systems?

If so they are exactly the same in my eyes.

Thanks for the suggestion by the way.
