>Half the size of a Genesis-CD-32X combo
>Reduces power brick count from three to two
>Doubles as a "portable" CD player
>Remove the 32X and it fits with the Power Base Converter

So why WOULDN'T you get a CDX to make the Genesis-CD-32X setup? (Price notwithstanding) Yeah there's the X-eye, but that doesn't give the benefit of small size or the power base converter

>> No.1690035

The CDX has cheaper hardware than the model 1. They cut every cost that they could with it for maximum profit. The sound and video aren't as good.

it's unit dependant, although rarer you can get one that's on par with a standard model 1

>> No.1690121

>>1689938
Because the CDX is much rarer and very expensive.

What is the ultimate setup for Sega Genesis/CD/32X? As far as models, cables, and accessories go.

Because it's an electrical hazard.

Because the X'Eye is ten times cooler and far less prone to breaking

The CDx has comparability issues and doesn't play some sega cd games. Get an X'eye.

I owned a CDX back in le day.
It played everything I used with it. That was about a hundred MD games and two dozen or so CD games. Which games does it not play, hrm?

>>1690571
I watched that first vid but not the rest yet.
That's got to be bullshit. I owned a CDX. My best friend owned a Model 1. We both owned Shining Force II. The game sounded the same on both consoles. We both owned Sonic 3. The game sounded the same on both consoles. We both owned Phantasy Star IV. The game sounded the same on both consoles.

Are the other videos similarly dubious as the first? You know... no actual evidence but, rather, just two sound files being played but with no proof that they're being played from the devices claimed in vid?

I watched all three. I could only find a difference in the first video, the one that's framed as a "model 1 rocks, CDX sucks." So that seems suspicious.

It sounds different to a good model 1, but better than a bad model 1 or 2

Why the FUCK there is no Mega CD+Model 1 Mega Drive+Power base converter photos?

It always pissed me off that the CDX didn't have a 32x built in. I still want one though. I wish the neptune had come out too. The 32x is such a bitch to set up and mine had this high pitch wine even when it seemed to work correctly. I just want it all in one system! Who knows, maybe the retron 6 will have that...

Kinda hard to have a 32X built into a system that came out before the 32X did.

>The 32x is such a bitch to set up

Plug it in the cart slot, connect the wire to the Genesis, plug in the AC.

ZOMG SUCH A BITCH TO SET UP
