I wasn't aware about the Master System during the 3rd gen, and only had a Famiclone (I did know Sega for their arcades though, OutRun specifically, loved it).

From 4th gen and onwards, Segatendo idort for sure, there is no other way.
I was also a Segatendo portable idort with a Game Gear and a Game Boy.
