Diagnosed autistic femanon here. I guess I "obsess" over the dust and such in my game controllers, but that's solely out of wanting to keep my controllers clean, functional, and just generally something my friend will want to play with when they come over.

I know people will have me for this, but I think every disc based console and game has aged bad. Disc rot is a problem, and discs are very easily damaged. Meanwhile the readers have been known to wear out easily. Seems to be a problem especially in Dreamcast and Play Station. Luckily the first too can just be bypassed with burnt copy discs, but in the Dreamcast that only makes it work overtime and makes the system wear out more easily. It's one of those things that makes me glad that emulation exist, even if I prefer playing things on the real hardware if at all possible.

And I'm saying all this as someone who's favorite console is the original Play Station/PS1.

Anon and femanon are not actual words, they are 4chan slang.

>> No.1678084

Well the reason they didn't age well is that they have no lubrication. Lube them up with some joystick grease such as Molykote. Just don't use anything with petroleum in it.

It doesn't surprise me they get worn out after sessions of mario party. When you spin it like fist of the north star it gets hotter than the center of the sun.

With this in mind, i just thought of something. nintendo is really good at making stable hardware such as consoles in general, but sucks at controllers. Just look at broken l/r pads on Nintendo DS, SNES, and sticks on N64/GC.

Also, "femanon" is stupid, especially in posts like that, because it adds nothing to the post. Probably the only time it's ever relevant is when someone is like "I sucked 50 dicks yesterday, btw im a grill, no homo".

It was the wordfilter. 'Wapanese' came first. The mods became tired of the phrase, and so it was filtered to 'weeaboo,' presumably because just as weeaboos cannot shut up about animu, the paddlers in the comic live to play weeaboo.

The hole is to hold the glue in place against shear force AND to serve as a fool- proof guarantee. Without the hole the hardened glue surface could give in to the shear force and become loose. The little tip in the hole holds it in place. And without it if you used too much or it went wrong any other way it would be difficult to remove it, all you could do is using abrasives like sand paper, but with the hole just apply pressure at it from the bottom and the glue part will pop out. You do. That's why you don't use any prefix for it.

Regardless of how logical or illogical it is, the words are "anon" for neutral and male posters and "femanon" for female posters.

Female posters looking for attention used to be called gurls, then grills since 2011 or so, etc. Back when I was a teenage /b/tard circa 2005, they were universally called just "attention whores." The word "femanon" appeared circa 2008, and it was used to denote anonymous posters who were female; the term is not derogatory and never was. In fact, it was always used endearingly in most cases. Further, you're kind of fucking extending that to everyone else. When people are fucking telling you "No, that's not what I mean" you should probably think "Hey, maybe there's a misunderstanding here and people actually don't mean it that way" instead of going "Nah, EVERYONE thinks the same way as me, obviously, and I'm just the only person in the world who can make them see that!"

Maleanon here. I never understood how people broke their n64 controllers, now I do. It was you people and your orangutang friends treating your console like garbage because you had to play mario party. Breaking the stick doesn't make you win, boys.

Zelda 1 has aged poorly. Dat battery save mang.

And plenty of boards still have wordfilters, most of them just stopping you from posting certain words.

And nobody cares how long you've been on 4chan if you don't specify which boards you use. You can be a /a/v/b/tard going back for years and still know nothing about the posting culture on /z/ for example.

You have obviously never played Mario Party.
Stay stupid, friend.

I have a hard time finding working PS1 (first model). The lens was just garbage that broke easily.

>but my PS1 still works from day 1!

Yeah, of course it's not ALL of them that got broken, but consider yourself lucky if your old PS1 still works.

Oh Fuck you guys! So anyways, I always found the rubber button pads in my NES controllers to wear out and tear. Luckily it's easily to replace these.

The moving parts of the stick lacked any lubrication, so as they rub across eachother, they'll eventually wear down.

If you haven't done so, you should disassemble yours and use a plastic-safe lubricant on the inside of the analog stick.

Mine stopped working for ages refusing to play anything, and after years in the garage started playing stuff again recently.

Maybe the cold did something to the parts? Who knows.

Just did it myself while waiting for a reply.

Works pretty damn well. Takes a few tries to get the exact amount of tape right but the stick flicks back to the middle now.

it's not that bad. anyway, how much is the expected lifetime of a nes cartridge battery? 8 years? and a GBC cartridge? I bought a copy of pokemon gold and had to replace it.
does it die quickier if I leave the cartridge inside the console?

>> No.1698614

>>1698608
The batteries in Pokemon Gold and Silver die quickly because they're always in use due to the internal clock.

Internal batteries are sort of a toss-up: my friend's grandma has an early copy of LoZ1 from nearly 30 years ago, and the battery on it still works. Her ALttP copy still works too, and I think that's about 22 years old by now.

Meanwhile, the batteries in my Kirby Super Star and EB died more than ten years ago.

I feel like older handheld systems didn't age well, like the original Game Boy, it didn't have backlight and the screen deteriorated over time, and they had to make accessories like magnifying glass for the screen and worm lights, and they used regular batteries which nowadays are more expensive.
