Last Blade 2 is probably their magnum opus.
Thing is nobody play these games and the community looks down on playing the cpu.

Scratch that, if I'm not mistaken Gowcaizer IS balanced for single player with rpg like character and stat building in the same vein as Metamoqester, Warzard, Monster Maulers.

It's totally worth it playing against the CPU, the game was intended to be played that way.

It's a history book of all the SNK fighting games ever made up to 2000. Unfortunately I don't own. I do have the Capcom version though.

Gowcaizer allowed you to learn new moves every time you defeated an opponent. Loved that and Double Dragon '95. I kinda wish DD'95 was based on the old arcade/NES games rather than that lame movie.

Picked up Samurai Shodown a few weeks ago. I've never been the best at fighting games but I enjoy them. Usually play as Haohmaru or Jubei, I keep the dipswitch settings on default (level 4), play on easy, and still get my ass handed to me after a handful of matches. I've noticed I'm getting better though, any tips from the veterans?

so cool. How much do these go for?

I bought mine for around $40 years ago. It covers all the Capcom fighting games up to 2000. My only gripe is that it glosses over the few console-exclusive fighting games like EX3 and Street Fighter: The Movie.

Why don't you try asking around the various fighting games threads for opponents? I'm sure you'll find someone willing to fool around with you on ggpo.

Garou is, while a fun fighter, incredibly overated

You want a good fighting game that isn't a fan wank of Japanese Cultural history, go play the Real Bout Games

care to elaborate?

Probably a wrong choice of words I suppose considering that I'm a very big fan of that stuff as well as weapon based fighting games

So what nigger, in the case of a martial arts based fighter the asian wank actually fits like a glove.
Ironically MoW actually had way less chinese wank than classic Mortal Kombat.

I'm not an expert but from what I read about last blade's story it was set in a time when Japan started receiving external influence from immigrants and their culture and technology was considered outdated and primitive due to them staying isolated for so long.

It does have a come of age and loss of tradition theme but it's hardly nationalistic, if anything it paints japan as being old and obsolete and the foreigners as modern and hi tech.
But that's just my 2cc, you don't actually need to know anything about that if you just play it as a fantastic fighter like Samurai Shodown.

Gowcaizer isn't really anything like what I remembered, you just get to copy one of your opponents move after you beat them. I think there's a dip switch setting to keep them all but in default you can only equip one at a time.
Also the game has bullshit inputs for special moves.

Oh well at least there were tits.
