Let's be real for a minute here. Games with black people in them sell significantly less. They are always obscure, always avoided really. Personally, I wouldn't play a videogame with a black person as a main character, certainly wouldn't buy the game, unless they were masked with a voice changer Darth Vader style. I am sure the distributors of Super Smash TV wised up to their audience, as videogames have always really been a white males kind of thing.

Literally sprite swapped and it's a different licensed game. Uninspired developers still do this with web based games that they sell to sites like Cartoon Network and slap the appropriate characters on at the last minute.

I meant in situations where they are hamfisted in. Gameshows and platformers in general, among other genres, are just something that you wouldn't want to see a black guy in. Games with violence and crime makes plenty of sense though.

The batman games on the Atari ST were very cool at the time. No idea how they aged.

I loved the classic ocean health gauge that was the mug of your character and as it depleted you could see the skull.
