Yeah, Cool Spot, for the SNES.
You played as the red spot from the 7-UP logo (but wearing shades).
It was a sidescrolling platformer, where you had to collect spots in order to raise your "Cool" percentage. Once you got it high enough, you were then considered cool enough to save your friends (who were also spots) who were stuck in cages in each level.
It was kinda similar to Rayman in that respect.

A lot of the McDonald's tie-in games are really good. Donald Land for the NES is a great side-scrolling platformer where you... throw bombs at the enemies. Your bombs travel in a parabola that is affected by your velocity, and they even stick to enemies if you score a direct hit. Plus this game had a cool bomb-jump feature (maybe the very first?) where you could lob a bomb in the air, jump onto it, and then jump off to reach much higher places. Add in the shop in between each level that lets you buy extra lives/hp/bomb upgrades using money picked up in the levels, and you have a pretty solid platformer.

Boss battles are pretty fun/hard too. I definitely recommend.

On a related note, MC Kids for the NES (another McDonald's game) is an excellent platformer. Multiple worlds, large open-ended levels, secrets in every level... fuck I want a Big Mac.

Uh, it does.

Demons kill people. When people get killed, your character doesn't level up. Also, IIRC, certain necessary events happen when you reach population milestones.

Demons also destroy houses and fields, lowering the quality of life.

A lot of the games on the 32x. I proudly own one and while the games are super cool it's a very silly thing to conceptualize and get behind. Going through that trouble was not worth the release. Virtua Racing on the Genesis is an example of how powerful you can make a Genesis cartridge by installing add-ons but the SVP chip greatly increased the price. A lot of the games on the 32x offer little more than extra color, heightened 3D capabilities, and extra sound channels. If they were just well-polished Genesis games with longer development times or even made into Saturn launch titles maybe history wouldn't be so unkind. It never should have left Sega's dev house.

What convinced anyone to make games for it?

>Virtua Racing on the Genesis is an example of how powerful you can make a Genesis cartridge by installing add-ons but the SVP chip greatly increased the price
At one point they were going to make a lock on cartridge like Sonic & Knuckles for the SVP chip and have a series of games that utilized it, so you'd only have to pay for the chip once.
Not sure why we ended up only getting a poorly thought out add-on instead.

Notice the black bar at the bottom? This was an effective, but relatively rare method of boosting performance on the NES. You see, the NES updates the screen every time the graphics are drawn, from top to bottom. The longer the distance, the more it will take. So they cut the screen down so help speed it up. This proves that this game either was in a beta form, or it was pushing the absolute limits.

I'd rather imagine if stuff like Metal Slug 5 or Jurassic Park: Trespasser had been finished before they were released, or if Dinosaur Planet had been finished and released on the N64. Games like those just make me real sad.
Bio Force Ape has decent animation, fast scrolling, and a lot of wackiness, but it really isn't that good a game, and didn't have much potential to be a good game no matter how far along in development it might have gotten.

Yeah, I know Battletoads and Double Dragon were both published by Tradewest in the west, but the whole thing feels like a glorified bootleg, considering how distinct the two franchises were in their days and weren't even made by the same developer. They didn't even get the names of the Double Dragon bad guys right.
