Recently, I've fallen in love with Hagane, but I never heard of it as a kid. I'm also surprised that people like Pocky & Rocky since no one I knew had it and I hated it for being such cheap shit.

Cheap as in half-assed and really easy to beat? I don't see why that would be a problem in a platformer game.

Favourite is probably Super Metroid but close runners up are Hagane, Yoshi's Island, Terranigma, Super Turrican 2 and Final Fantasy IV.

But that's the fun of Mega Man games; working out a good order to beat the bosses in. If you come up to a boss that feels impossible then stop beating your head against the proverbial wall and try another stage.

Dude, Pocky and Rocky gives you powerful screen clearing bombs, a close range attack that cancels most projectiles and can be charged (while firing projectiles even) to do a spinning attack that lets you deflect projectiles and take out most weaker enemies coming from all directions while moving, a dash move that gets you out of the way of attacks really fast, a reasonably small hit box, health that increases as the game goes on, health restoring items, and shield items that give you extra hits.
You have all the tools and advantages you could ever possibly need, and the only thing that's absolutely necessary to avoid taking any damage at all is the dash move.
The game is hard, but it ain't unfair in the slightest.

I'm pretty sure the only way to beat the game is to spam the uppercut. Otherwise it takes so long to kill anything you're going to run out of time every time.

After the haunted house I either got really good at it or it got way easier.

I had to save a state at the entrance and memorize every path, my goal was not to but it takes so long to get back and there are too many one way doors that put you all the way cold.

I've been playing this one again recently. Did you hear about the secret debug room that nobody knew about until it was revealed October of last year? It really helps fix the shitty grinding aspect of the game.

Overall a pretty decent game for its time, though it really hasn't aged well. The Genesis take on Shadowrun that came out a year or so later is superior in every way, except maaaaybe the music.

It wasn't long, the last boss was actually hard as fuck though, just because he was cheap. Nonstop attacks and a very small hit box.
Levels basically went
breaking glass
haunted house
pirates
sewers
last boss

Honestly once you got used to how clunky it plays and past the haunted house it becomes a fun game. I never even died except for the first first time I turned it on due to a timeout and lots of timeouts in the haunted house.

I had to start using save states once I ran out of credits. I'm not sure what level it was but the boss was two knights. About 60% through some attacks were doing like 80% of my hp if I got hit with them, I'm not sure if it was because I was a wizard or if it just gets that punishing.

Super fun game though, my brother was visiting over memorial day weekend and I wish I had known about this one so we could have had some 2 player fun.
