guys, recently when i load some wads (this happens on just some wads) on GZdoom, when i chose to start a new game the game just sends me to MAP01, it loads the gameplay modifications of the wad but not the maps, anybody knows how to solve this?

I had hopes for Mark's megawad but he said that he's gonna make 20 levels max for it. I watched a youtube video and realized why he intend to do it. Maps are hella large, like BYHAE.wad.

Talking as a fan here. I think Brootal Doom needs some polishing and tweaking if it really adores having a megawad:

When they're killed in action or on capture before you can release'em, they can drop a random ammunition pack or healing item.

Max hp and armor should that you can grab from over health items should be capped at 300-350. Fatality and pickup bonuses can improve that limit further. Fits for sommerassaulting in the pits of hell and hectic melee fights.

Killing a Hell Noble (or something bigger like Mancubus or Arch-Vile) with your fists not only grant more hp but some armor bonus.
I know it has no logic, but you would really use some damage mitigation after being proud of yourself. As of now fatality bonus feels abit weak, you don't wanna go close to a big target for just 10 hp when you can lose like 120-150 in a blink with a melee attack or projectile.

Onto the maps (I know no one will agree with me on those but here's my shot):

to carry medikits and berserker packs collected from earlier levels. over health items and stimpacks should be instant use items, but I'd really love to have medikits, and it would save me from looking deliberately for the berserker pack in a large map.

I remember skulltag here, it has such nice runes, I do believe main idea behind them can be used to shape new runes. Demonic Strength serves as a mini-berserk pack but, it feels like I need something else to thrill me for scoring kills. Having a Prosperity rune to benefit more healing from medikits and stimpacks would be really cool. A Rage rune to reload and attack faster, a Haste rune to move faster. Partial Invisibility rune for a small time period?

Only an idea for my to be released at eleventeenth of neverember. As I see BYHAE.wad have an unmaker but I think it's way too overpowered.
Unmaker can be a counterpart for railgun or laser rifle, dunno. As I read from Doom bible Unmaker feeds on demon energy different than normal ammunition that you can find in the corridors of UAC. Adding a weak and slow no-cost alternate attack that causes killed targets to drop demon energy would solve that as well.
Darkclaw can be made to a melee weapon (releases gas?) which grants partial invisibility (press reload to activate like berserk fists) as it eats your cell ammunition.

Only an idea for my to be released WAD at eleventeenth of neverember. As I see in BYHAE.wad have an unmaker but I think it's way too overpowered.
Unmaker can be a counterpart for railgun or laser rifle, dunno. As I read from Doom bible Unmaker feeds on demon energy different than normal ammunition that you can find in the corridors of UAC. Adding a weak and slow no-cost alternate attack that causes killed targets to drop demon energy would solve that as well.
Darkclaw can be made to a melee weapon (releases gas?) which grants partial invisibility (press reload to activate like berserk fists) as it eats your cell ammunition.

check prboom-plus.cfg for the value of "realtic_clock_rate", or "Game speed, percentage of normal" in option->general (page 2, pictured).

Seriously though, it's a little weird to learn how to maneuver in the game. The default controls are ass and your maximum turnspeed is clamped because spaceship, so set up something like

Mouse - Pitch/Yaw (Aiming) and firing
WASD - Slide Up/Down/Left/Right
Q and E - Roll Left/Right

Or be keyboard only like this guy and add arrow keys for aiming.

Descent 2 is like Doom 2: Way more enemy types and items like afterburners and headlights. Could start with that one if you want.

So a lot of people have been asking about Metroid enemies, and I've been contemplating having a cvar-based system that replaces enemies with Metroid enemies normally, or leaves the Doom enemies if it's disabled.
This is still in consideration (it would require a fuckton of original artistic resources that there's no way I'll get), but how's this layout look?

Zombieman: Grey Zebesian Trooper (2D Pirate troopers. Wanders and occaisionally shoots)
Sergeant: Green Zebesian Trooper (Shoots more often, knows how to dodge)
Commando: Red Zebesian Trooper (Agile fucker, constantly shoots and dodges)

Imp: Urtragian Trooper (Prime Pirate troopers. Basic scythe-arm melee and basic energy blaster)

A few.
I can recolor the Zebesian to fit the different ranks, and some editing to give him power armor would make him the Super Zebesian, so that's four enemies right there.
The Zoomer was also drawn by Scripten, and the Metroid/Desgeega were handed to me by a lad named Spram2.
The Kihunter bears enough of a resemblance to the Wasp from Marathon that I can recycle sprites from that.

Robots/turrets are...relatively easier to sprite. Not that they're easy at all, but easier than creating an organic flesh-and-blood critter because there's a whole ton of extra robotic parts around that can be frankened together in various ways. Kind of like the Maephisto.
So that would (eventually) take care of the sentry drones.

So that would only leave the Imp, Caco, Baron, Archvile, and Cyberdemon.

Nope, that's only with ZDoom as well. The old textures are made up of PATCHES that you put between P_START and P_END and then you have to manually make them in the TEXTURE1 or TEXTURES lump. It's kind of a pain in the ass but it saved them some disk space.

Textures don't animated by default; you can't make new animating textures in vanilla, you can only replace existing ones. You can use ANIMDEFS to make new ones but I think it's a ZDoom only feature.

So I got it working and I've told my map that it's in Doom 2 format but I'm figuring the builder and the sourceport are just compensating for the loss by not showing what it WOULD show if I ran this wad under chocolate doom or something?

Would it not open and show an error, display a corrupted texture? A missing one?

Would I need to tell it to *replace* other textures and then add my own animdefs?

Rare weapon pickup which combines all of your beams into one massive fuckoff Zero Laser, which (as per Brawl) blows off your suit.
Until level ends/pick up a blue armor, you're stuck as unarmored Samus--primary fire uses the Muay Thai/Krav Maga as described in the Metroid 1.5 design document (probably adapting from my old old old melee experiment, except much faster and more satisfying), secondary fire uses a plasma pistol (fuck that paralyzer whip bullshit).

This is the best general ever, i just tweaked my shit and i have so much content to play trough, so many high quality pwads to play too, using any mod i want.
