Earthbound has been my favorite game since I was like 12. I wish the fanbase hadn't become so cancerous over the years. I hate seeing stuff like this. I also played through Earthbound not too long ago, and I was surprised at just how well it has held up. The humor and overall charm of the game is just fantastic.

I wont argue with that. The first Mother game didn't hook me like the other two. I just finished Mother 3 for the first time not too long ago, but I still haven't decided whether I like it more than Earthbound, they both did different things very well.

I enjoyed Earthbound Zero game best, too. The low key and minimalist graphics made the plot and the setting scary in comparison with those bright and cheerful visuals in the sequel. Only thing inferior to it is the battle system. I had to use the patch that reduces the grind, and even I found the battles to be tedious at Mt. Itoi where enemies could kill you instantly

I also liked the music a bit better. Maybe I just have a soft-spot for 8 bit game soundtracks, but there's no denying it's some brilliantly crafted music. But to give credit where it's due, Earthbound also had some great and memorable tunes.
