The combat is, but besides that and i guess atmosphere it does not share much with dark souls. It would be amazing if dark souls had decapitations and dismemberment of Blade of Darkness.

While it's obviously missing the core mechanics, when I played through Actraiser a while ago I got a Souls vibe.
Something about the way the story deals with faith and monsters, and the moments when one of the boss-tunes will suddenly strike up, and a HP bar will appear, informing you shit's about to get real.
