Just checked it out, nice work. 2 small things you may already be working on, I think the uzi's firing animation gets pushed back too far, it looks ok for firing a single shot but prolonged fire it looks too unnatural, instead of kickback just like the art tile is moving backwards. I'd either make it more subtle or make it smoother, if possible.

PSA: Knee Deep in ZDoom, as downloaded from the official site, throws an error when you try to run it. To fix it, get SLADE, open the wad, go to decorate/decorations and in like 996 delete the ´ after 0.4 (using Find and Replace works too).
I don't know if this affects all versions of KDIZD.

You gotta hit the melee button to make it burst. It originally burst after a set number of tics but we changed it to give the player more control. We kinda dropped the ball on informing people though, sorry.

It's bugged, sorry. It won't switch if you have full ammo, but try it out without full ammo. If you want to play around and know decorate there's also a version of the explosive arrow that just sticks in enemies without exploding in the decorate file.

Thanks for taking the time to play and give feedback on the alpha! Since these seem to be things a couple of other people have brought up, what are your thoughts on the shotgun clicking to reload and clicking to fire separately? And what about the way multiple shell types are handled with all shells sharing the same ammo pool versus a more traditional each shell type having it's own pool?

That happens if you have more than the max amount of shells. You can pick up the shells after they're dropped if they're dropped this way. Sometimes you can pick up the shells right after if you only temporarily had more ammo, like if you had 45 shells and 8 shells in the gun, since you'd temporarily have 53 shells before reloading with a different ammo type. In that example you'd drop 3 and then pick them back up again.

You can actually keep hitting the altfire to cycle through the ammo types without switching them, and if you hit altfire until you have the ammo type you currently have in the gun then nothing happens.

Not fond of it - if doing it sped up the firing considerably it would be fine but as far as I can see it doesn't do it any quicker. It just makes the gun hard to use against a crowd.

How it should be done is this - if you just shoot and don't click again, the shotgun will play that exagerated pump-action where Mel lifts the whole thing up. If you DO click after firing, she'll do that much more modest pump where the gun isn't raised, it's kept level and just pumped - but a bit quicker. If possible you could decrease accuracy if fired quickly.

That way you can hold down the fire key whilst fighting a single enemy at mid-range, but if up close you can spam fire much quicker.

The previous one was like 50MB or so, right? Well, this one weighs almost 190MB. Yeah. I added over 200 pics (some of them being /hr/ worthy) and all of them are unsorted for your viewing pleasure; I'll be doing it like that from now on just so you can see the new shit that's being added every now and then, for the next update all of them are going to be sorted and all that stuff.

You may notice that some pictures have a certain kind of filename going on, the reason for that is that some of them come straight from my blog, apologies if your bum is flustered because of it. For the next update I might get in the weekend on another blog which is pretty well known among us - and it may probably boost the content of this pack by a long shot.

One thing that might need some attention is the Poison shells.

They are great for area denial but they bounce away from enemies if they are hit directly.

Maybe give it a chance for one of those pods to stay in place? Sometimes the gas spawns on the other side of a wall too.

Cool, some more suggestions. I'm just playing through a wad now with it:

-explosive bolts need a serious buff, make them rarer if neccesary but I fired about 10 into a normal hellknight and he was still going. They shouldn't be weaker than shotgun shells, if you want them to be that weak I'd suggest making them fire a bit faster and turning the explosion into more of a firecracker, since there's a big disconnect between the size of the explosion and the damage being dealt.

-Uzi could do with a bit of a quicker melee swing. Any plans for an alt-fire btw? Uzis aren't horribly inaccurate IRL so maybe Mel could pull the stock back and fire a bit slower but more accurately? Having akimbo would be fucking awesome otherwise, but I don't know if that would be Mel's style (or doable even)

Also not an issue but the pistol is great, it's much better than I remember it being in the last version. nice work and glad to see you guys taking our suggestions onboard.

It doesn't always have to be one or the other, you can have gradual progression from small close-combat areas into wide hallways, then medium to large rooms which progress into arenas. You can also include some small areas with very low brightness, maybe flickering light effects, making these areas too big is just agitating.

I'd say monster placement is one of the most important things to get right in a map, placing enemies of different types in front of one another just allows easy infighting. You could place a bunch of medium tier enemies which throw projectiles in a high area and some hitscanners scattered around on platforms with pinkies, spectres or imps in the foreground to get up in your grill.

something is messed up with zdoom and gzdoom in linux on intel graphics. First of all, enabling vsync in zdoom doesn't do anything so I have to manually cap the framerate; vsync works in gzdoom. Second, in both g/zdoom, after about 5-10 min in game, some very obvious video stuttering will occur. This is probably most obvious in gzdoom because with vsync on it's smooth at 60fps, but when it starts stuttering it is very obvious. I'm using Archlinux with latest mesa/intel drivers

I was thinking about having food barrels randomly replace invuln spheres seeing as I've broken those, that and I don't see the need for invulnerability when every character is going to be more than capable of laying out enough hurt to keep themselves safe, as well as each character having the ability to heal themselves in some manner (Blaz with his powered arm cannon, Kuros with a support sub item, and Samson with a sub weapon flask)

Have you tried using a_spawnitemex? That's how the shield in Donald's samsara grondoval addon worked, and it would block projectiles even when running forward.

Its in the grondoval one, forget what the shield is called but it replaces the berserk. It's designed for the blocking actors to die so the shield has durability, but you can just make them invincible if you want.

DmC did alright critically speaking, so a sequel isn't farfetched (not that I'm looking forward to that, meh; to me DMC lives on through Platinum), though it's a shame Capcom keeps throwing out/redistributing their goodfellas. So I just tried Accessories to Murder a few minutes ago and this is what I have to say

Weapons having recoil do not help me at all to enjoy this, it'd be cool if they would go back in position automatically. The shotguns feel underpowered compared to their vanilla counterparts, their sounds, however, are quite spot on. I'm having difficulties to understand why there's no plasma gun, the chaingun got replaced by a rifle and the plasmagun was replaced by a chaingun. Overall, aside from the pistols everything else feels underpowered. Am I the only one that thinks it'd be great if the Hammer could OHK the imps (with no powerup)?

On the subject of the weapon sprites, I don't have anything much to express other than echoing what others have said: outstanding, and arguably the best part of this mod. They all have "Doom Nukem" written all over them, it's one of those shading styles you can identify by just giving a quick glance at them (the other ones that are pretty much identifiable are Blox's and Eriance's styles)

Now, on to the enemies...well, first of all, who are you supposed to be? That's one of the main things I have trouble with regarding AtM; WHAT'S THE BLOODY CATCH? In Project MSX you're this threatening modern-FPS techno-suit dude/machine that can blow huge enemies with only his fists, in GMOTA you're an hybrid of Doomguy/Sir Arthur that can cast cool GnG-styled magic and shit. Who the fuck is AtMGuy and what does he do?

I say this because, in order to get the idea going for a gameplay mod such as AtM and the like, you got to put these two things in mind pretty well on the table. You fight a variety of monsters in Accessories but none of them seem to have any identifiable correlation; I mean, ALL of the weapon sprites match in terms of style, but then you have the monsters which most of them are frankensprites that do not match the same style (marine with Strife helmet, regular marine inside a Duke Nukem tank, that Xmas Revenant, etc.), And that's one of the things that stroke me the most when WW posted a Request on the forums regarding a Cyberdemon/Mastermind sprite replacement for his mod. You can whip up an ingenious alternative but if you don't know what's the atmosphere of your project it won't stand out as much as the weapons do in AtM

Finally, the sounds....the undead marines just SUCK. Euuugh. You kill 'em and 3 seconds later they stop their death sound, and truth be told, they're almost this close to be as annoying as the BD's cruelty-fueled half-dead zombies, where in the name of fuck did WW got the sounds from?. A lot of sounds do not match the sprite animations (you can really notice this in their death animations). The only ones I could deal with are the Baron family and the Daedalus.

Overall, a decent mod; not my cup of tea but it seems that some people like it; cool for them, I guess?

Basically, the Mag Sling fires a projectile at the monster which puts it in the "Sling" pain state. That pain state faces the player and then fires out a loreshot derived projectile, which does 0 damage but has +FORCEPAIN on it. This forces the player to react to the projectile but not get damaged. +FORCEPAIN isn't in Zandronum yet, so Mag Sling won't be making it in the next TSP Neo version.

The shared ammo pool with the shotgun sounds neat on paper but it's a nightmare to manage when you actually try it, I keep ending up with too many buckshot or too many poison and I'm stuck for the next minute or so trying to empty it out so I got room for other shells. I think it's better off with just 4 separate pools.

I don't mind the shell management but that's because I focus on using the shotgun almost all the time.

I also dump buckshot whenever because honestly it's so common that I can just pick it up from anything. It's also handy that Shotgun Guys drop extra of those.

The flamer will have long range, right?
Because unless it's a gas-jet (which is entirely unsuitable for any kind of combat), it should be able to reach at least four stories up.

Why won't these doors (really red key pillars) not open?

I have tagged the linedefs around them as requiring a red key to open.
I've tagged the sectors they occupy with the same tag as the linedef action
I've lowered the ceiling to the floor so it functions as a door

Still nothing, what am I missing here?

They're facing the wrong way, flip them, the "pegs" on a usable linedef should face the direction you're using it from.

Welcome to the board, have a quick primer.
Command lines are what you run in the executable to tweak the settings--such as -fast, dmflags3 16, etc.
Actor flags are done in decorate in the mod's code, and are entirely different from command lines.
