Hey /vr/, did you forget about me?

>> No.1586603

I recently revisited the game to see if it was good but it was even worse than I remember. The level design is horrid and the controls aren't that great.

And oh god, those pop culture references....Oh god.

What was wrong with the level design? I thought it was pretty good. Which game did you play?

Aww shit, what time is it?

Tail time, of course.

Gex 3 is one of the best platformers of the era.

>> No.1586783

Gex is okay if you like collect-a-thons. Some of the requirements for getting 100% completion are a little absurd. You'll have to repeat every level in the game numerous times.

I know it's a minor complaint, but the developers just had to inject some annoying U.K. dialect into at least one of the characters. He talks like someone from the farthest ends of the English boondocks, which in my opinion is even worse than some of the accents and mangled dialects that come out of the South U.S. Thankfully the only time you really hear him speak is during the tutorial sections of the hub. I just keep the audio muted.

i definitely cannot agree with this; the slowdown and terrible camera were 2 big problems, among a few others.

i want to say that enter the gecko was the better of the two, but i haven't played that game since i was a kid.

No, Enter the Gecko was not better. It had basically 5 level themes repeated over and over. Deep Cover Decko at least had every level as a unique theme.

Fucking this.

A good platformer should be bright, colorful and exciting, or so I thought back in the day. The worst sin that a platformer could commit, then, is to be boring and tedious. At least Aero the Acro-bat or whatever had the decency to mix up the backgrounds a bit, throw new mechanics at you every other stage and change up the soundtrack, so there's a sense of progression. But nothing sucks the color and the excitement out of a platformer faster than having to trudge through the same-looking areas 3-4 times in a row. It's the worst.
