Doom 1's level design doesn't really let you abuse mouselook since enemies are generally on the same plane as you are or a bit above you.

Never too far, and never any enemies to snipe.

Doom 2 has larger levels so sometimes you could snipe people, but you shouldn't be doing that.

Basically as long as you don't really ridiculously break the game you should be good to go regardless of look setup.

The TC only worked for Doomsday/Doom Legacy IIRC, not to mention it wasn't 100% perfect. D64-EX is its own source port which takes everything from a Doom64 rom and turns into a workable .wad file - it's very goddamn accurate. Shame it is limited to its own port.

In GZDoom, under "miscellaneous options," you can change the autosave setting to "never" or "scripts only" (if you're playing a wad designed with checkpoints in mind). I would assume it's the same in ZDoom.

What you could do is draw up or rip the graphic of a bullet, and then just draw a thin strip of stamped metal, just show the clip being fitted into the stripper-clip guide, and Doomguy pushing the rounds down into the magazine, pushing the bolt forward should toss the empty clip out of the action so you don't have to manually remove the clip after it's stripped.

This guy explains it pretty simply.

Also of note, once you fire the last round in a K98, and pull the bolt back, it won't go forward until you either push down the magazine-follower, or load in new rounds by hand or strip a clip into the magazine, this was to cue in soldiers that "Hey, you're empty, load the gun and push the bolt into battery.

Plasma gun was a toy M60 machinegun, that could be taken apart into smaller guns, it's the front end of this thing, held backwards.

The molded plastic heatshield would serve as the muzzle for the plasma gun.

This one is green, but the one they used for Doom was tan/sand colored, I think they had tan/desert camo back then due to the US being deployed in Iraq for the Gulf War, otherwise known as Operation Desert Storm (a much spiffier name than Operation Iraqi Freedom, don't you think?).
