A cheap racing game by Taito - RaybTracers. It's like a sci-fi version of Chase HQ, with big robot bosses to boot.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVDtQ_kjoxk

It's pretty cool and has good controls as well, which is something the Chase HQ game ports lacked.

If PAL and JAP only aren't a problem, then definitely try Hellnight/Dark Messiah. It's part point and click, but also have to run away from a monster in 3d first person in an underground sewer city. It's a simple idea gameplay wise, but executed in the best way possible, involving a lot of skill, trickery and generally getting your heart pumping in meatspace.

A cool thing about the game are your allies. you can have one at a time, each with their dailouge and ending if you finish with them, and their own special ability or weapon (which have limited ammo and can only stun the monster). They also function as a second hit point/extra life, when you have one, and you'd normally get killed by the monster, they did instead. You're alive, but they're gone forever, and you better find another partner because you're now more vulnerable and weapons/abilities can save your ass.

Whenever I hear people talk about Legacy of Kain, everyone likes it. It's just not something that has been that much in the foreground at the moment.

Once the remakes come out, I expect everyone will be praising the originals again non-stop. As they should of course, just saying it's one of those cyclical things.

On topic, I'd say maybe ODT?

Medal of Honor Underground

the whole game is fairly straightforward, much like the first, but then come the bonus levels...

at that point the game jumps the shark and gives 3 extremely difficult but highly memorable bonus levels

dogs using machineguns and driving tanks, self-destructing cyborgs alongside axe-wielding knights and finally robotic nutcracker versions of nazis

Highly recommend the one, the main game is pretty fun as well, more varied campaign than the first

you play as an anthropomorphic egg, who uses a wrench as a weapon. You have to stop at fans to cool down, or else after awhile you heat up too much, and become hard-boiled.

great 2-D platformer. You can use spells, such as shrink, power, ice, and fire, on both your enemies, or yourself, which adds an interesting puzzle element at times.
