Sup guise! Here's an odd request.

Did someone know a game with a large amount of monster, and when you kill them, they drop loot?

The best example here is the castlevania series. I always enjoyed recolecting all the items for every single monster, like collectibles.

Sadly, I never play a game with this particular feature.

Please, let me know if you play a game like this one. Platformers preferably, but not necessarily.

The GBA ports of FFIV-VI have bestiaries, IIRC.

If that's the type of thing you're looking for.

>>1547373

Not exactly. I'm looking for a game with a large amount of monster who drop an specific loot. You know, just like Castlevania, where ONLY parathropus drop the Ring of Varda.

I'm looking for stuff like this. Never played the FF series, but I think it's like the many other RPGs where any creep would drop you a potion or mana potion. Correct me if I'm wrong.

>>1547391
Most of the times it's potions and things of that nature, but their are a lot of monsters will have rare drops that are much more specific.

Not completely retro, don't kill me.

Castlevania normally has this more than anyone else, especially Aria of Sorrow.

The Golden Sun series has a ton of special equipment, and a few of what OP is talking about which were rather hard to get a hold of. The endgame dungeon of Part 1 had nearly every monster carrying something, and Part 2 had more throughout.

I killed these fuckers for about an hour and they when I saw I'd picked up an item I was fucking ecstatic.

It was at that point I learned that Schmoo's can also drop ramen. I do not get even close to lucky with this fucking game.

I know that I know a couple non-Castlevania games that do this but I'm drawing a blank, I hate that feeling.

Well this is a bit of a long shot but Diablo II Lord of Destruction does that in part with some of the unique equipment, for example the monster Pindleskin has a relatively very high chance of dropping Gull, a unique dagger whose stats are only useful thanks to the particular +100% better chance to finding magic items bonus, which in term helps you getting better shit when gambling.

Ah motherfucker, I'll just throw in the following two games, maybe OP will like them: Power Stone 2 and Evolution 2, both for the Dreamcast. These two games have a very large library of items that you are pretty much expected to fulfill as its very own side quest, especially in Evolution 2, as Power Stone 2 is more of a party/arcade game but it does have its own single player campaign (Adventure mode). The items in question require you to go through Adventure mode, pick up everything that you can, and then go into the Item Shop mode so you can combine them and create and unlock new items that you can then pick up and use in Adventure mode, combine more to make more, so yeah, it should be right up your alley I think.

As for Evolution 2, it's a very simplistic, barebones JRPG, but with the optional sidequest of finding all 200 Appraisal items. Some items are "super rare" which are only obtainable by combining 2-3 Appraisals, and while some of these items can be found in the main dungeons of the game, many of them can only be found in the Tower of Sorrow, which is a randomly generated dungeon that you can access basically right away from the start. As you progress through the game, the tower gets increasingly larger, having up to 50 floors, and upon beating the game once, it opens up 50 more floors on your New Game+. Rather than being dropped by enemies, these items are found in treasure chests, sometimes only found inside hidden rooms within the levels. In the Tower of Sorrow, there is always, always, 1 secret room in each level, but since they're all randomly generated you'll never know where it is, unless you have a Dowsing Stone, which makes an arrow appear in the VMU/vibrates the controller when you're near the breakable wall.

Mother 3 isn't /vr/... but it might aswell be.
It has a pretty good bestiary of all the enemies you encounter in the game. What's more, you get a different sprite if you approach them from behind, so if you want to get a full catalogue, you'll need to try to sneak behind every enemy which can be challenging.

I found they're fairly generous compared to some of the other enemy drops but that could just be because they're so easy to kill and common compared to say Final Guards. But then Heaven Swords proved a lot harder for me to get.

>>1547361
I assume you mean specific items per monster, because this is the basis of most dungeon crawlers. There is Final Fantasy VII where you can acquire items through Morph or Steal or sometimes as natural drops.
