Does anyone on /vr/ know how to use the high quality filters when emulating GBA games?

VBA-M on Linux (GTK port) somehow doesn't give me any option to pick HQ3x or HQ4x even though the HQ filters are touted as a feature of VBA-M.

More generally, what filters do you prefer/recommend, /vr/? I'm currently playing Golden Sun: The Lost Age. Shit is so cash.

vba-m also forces a sound filter that could be toggled on the original vba, that an actual gba does not even have

fuck vba-m

None of them. Especially not on a console that already used an LCD screen.

But playing these old games on my 1920x1080 modern screen is unbearably blocky.

low-pass filter i think, compare the two side by side

reduces some of the noise / static but also reduces fine sharpness / detail

maybe you won't notice a difference, i can

>magical differences

filtering of audio data is paralleled with filtering of graphical data, same algorithms

a difference exists whether you notice it or not

Seriously, though, what's wrong with anti-aliasing filters?

GBA is not retro, OP.

even with all filtering disabled through the ui, there is still a filter enabled
