I checked the catalogs of /v/, /vg/, and /vr/ but no Outcast thread. Since it was released in -99 I figured it'd be best to post this here.

There is a kickstarter running now for Outcast Reboot HD. Basically it will be original Outcast with spiffy graphics.

I had a butt-ton of fun with this game when it was released. I was elated when I found out that I had an MMX CPU, meaning I could experience all those beautiful voxels back in the day. Plus the game was HUGE at 650 MB, it blew my mind.

I was playing this last year. I'd get a few hours in and then crashes kept screwing me. It's a pity because it seemed like it had a huge scope for a game of that era.

I gave this game a go perhaps a year ago. Didn't get into it. To be honest, didn't get probably fifteen minutes of play in even. I was just sort of walking around the snow, and then yeah, never played it again. Seems like it would be a great game though, yeah, bit of an ADD story or something.

I believe I had a 300 MHz CPU back in those days. It played smoothly on that.

I bought it from GOG during a sale.After having much trouble fixing some resolution issues, I played a little but not enough to even find something hostile.It's now sitting there in my backlog.

What's appealing about the game?Exploration?Combat?I honestly want to know because I feel like playing an adventure game.

The mechanics hasn't aged well, but back in the day it was XBOX HUEG, and the voxel graphics were gorgeous. There are a bunch of guns that you can upgrade, and you find some ammo, but most of it you have to craft yourself. It was fun riding around on the games riding beast, Twon-Ha, the fights were fun, walking around in the fantastic landscape was very nice and so on. But, again, the mechanics hasn't aged well.

Fucking Gor-Gor Zort. If you don't run around and collect as much as possible while avoiding that sumbitch you miss out.
...Game was baller as hell though. One of the best scores for any game I've ever played. (TA's was better, though.)
