My dad is a huge tomb raider fan, i remember he told me he bought the latest game in the franchise and wasnt able to run it on his work-laptop.

>> No.1532532

my mom used to play the fuck out of the first super Mario bros, diddy Kong racing, and any castlevania.

I met my dad like 6times ever, he would have sold my games for rocks, glad he never knew i had them

>> No.1532536

He played Pac-Man and Combat with me, helped me learn to read spell and type with text adventures. He saw me playing Code Veronica and it blew his mind. Then he died.

Among other games, my father plays with me a lot of:
Double Dragon
Metal Slug
Pinball Action
The Punisher
That arcade ninja game with the white dog that looks like a wolf

I'm trying to get him into co-op shmups, but he's very resilient and doesn't like to try new things.

My dad loved playing the SNES Mortal Kombats with me and my brothers.

So much he'd actually skip work to keep playing sometimes. I wish he was actually as cool as he sounds though.

Dad played vidya from the Master System up to Mario 64. He was the first of us to 100% Mario 64.

Good days.

>> No.1532589

My dad never played video games without me, so I assume he mostly did it to bond with me.

I appreciate that a ton. Those Star Fox and DKC afternoons were great.

My dad played FIFA 98 with me. Those were the days.

>did/does your dad play video games?
Not really. Only games he really enjoyed were ones like Centipede and Pacman, and lost all interest in them when arcades stopped being a thing out here. Now he only sees video games (including mine) as a waste of space and stuff to be resold for profit.

I have a huge collection of NES/SNES/PS1/PS2 games from my dad that he used to play, mostly RPGs. He used to play the old Final Fantasies and Dragon Warriors all the time. He started playing runescape a while back, hasn't stopped for the past 8 years or so.

To this very day, but mostly just Wii Sports now. My first memory of vidya was him playing SNES Star Fox, which is currently one of my top 5.

Hope you guys played Tales of Eternia/Destiny II together at least once, if you had it, given that the game has co-op which is surprisingly fun, even now.

>> No.1533338

He did sit down and play some stuff with me from time to time, but never really played anything on his own. The only exception was Roller Coaster Tycoon, which he would sit and play for hours.

>> No.1533356

my dad was big into computers before they were cool. Its where I got my Tandy's from. He played some games on them, and as a result most of my gaming pre 2000 was on the PC, however gaming was like a neat plus for him, rather than the point of computers. Also he's under the impression that anything old is worthless, which is why he threw his old IBM along with a fuckton of games and programs (all CIB, including a copy of the hitchhikers guide that I really fucking wanted) out on the curb one morning. And if I hadn't of taken the Tandy's out of our shed and shown an interest/hid them from him, they'd be in a landfill right now too.
He would play my red version for me when I got stuck, and he installed an emulator on my computer for me once when I asked for a copy of yellow version. When I dug through that drive a few years ago, I found that the copy of little nemo he had put on my computer was actually just an icon that would open up that rom in nesticle. pretty neat I guess.

its kinda weird, because although he's owned quite a few games, I've never seen him play them. then again its not like I'm constantly monitoring what he does. He used to play an RC plane sim, but he designs those, so idk if that was for work or for fun.

My dad loved the NES and SNES. He would even play multiplayer games like Goof Troop (SNES) with me when I was little. Got me into video games. He quit playing games around that time, became an alcoholic and hasn't touched games since. That is until recently, playing the old games again, but not to the same extent.

My dad was more so back in the day. I think he still plays counter strike and the occasional 360 game once in awhile, but not as much as he used to.

>The game systems we had growing up were because he wanted to play them
>He hated play station so I never grew up with it
>The stories of him playing OoT until 3 am and having to work the next day
>The stories of him having lan parties to play counter strike with his friends

My dad was a pretty rad dude.

My dad and I used to play vidya together all the time during the time between my parents divorcing and him remarrying. I remember him helping me get through Super Mario 64 and playing Mario Kart and Smash Bros. and shit with me.

Though his new wife keeps him on a short leash, what with them having 3 kids together (and one of them being legit autistic) with her homeschooling them, so we don't really do much anymore outside of going out to eat on our birthdays and meeting up during christmas and whatnot. Not even my grandparents like her very much because of that, but I digress.

My dad used to play games, Pitfall being one of his favorites. I remember playing Medal of Honor and You Don't Know Jack with him when I was little. He hasn't been able to play much in the past few years because of his daughters he has to raise, but he has talked about wanting to get a PS2 to play some WWE games and stuff.

Fuck I'm old geezer. None of my parent ever saw vidya before I did. It doesn't help that they live in USSR, where vidya was rarer than fish in desert.

My dad enjoys sports games, being someone who works in sports information as well as acting historian of a local college's athletics department. He hasn't seriously played a video game in several years though.

Every now and again though we like ourselves a round of Tetris Attack, and I have fond childhood memories of playing Super Mario Kart with him. Good times...

Fish in a desert isn't all that rare. Fish in dessert might be pretty rare. I'm a geezer too, I guess, cuz my parents never played vidya. Ever.
Both are boomers, each born, however, on different continents. Vidya didn't become popular until my parents were in their 20s and already married. :-(
I'm a 1980s whoopsiebaby; mum thought she started early menopause, as is common in her family, when she stopped having her visits, unknowing that it was because she was preggers and not due to her pregnancy with me. Surprise!
