Hey, I really enjoy the shining force series, but was wondering if there were anygames similar. There was one in particular that was mentioned here before but I had forgotten what the title was. It was either for snes or genesis and looked almost just like it as it had the same art director. There was something about choosing between order and chaos too.
Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

Probably Langrisser. Only the first one was localized (on the Genesis under the title "Warsong), so you'll have to emulate it if you want the improved sequel. Langrisser 2 on the Megadrive and Der Langrisser on the SNES are kind of the same game, but not really. MD has better graphics and music, but the SNES has branching paths, where you can choose order, chaos, or independent.

FEDA for the super famicom?

If you're looking for 16-bit SRPGs, also try Tactics Ogre, Fire Emblem 4-5, and Der Langrisser. They aren't all that similar to Shining Force but they're good.

That's it!
And i've already played tactics ogre, i was really looking specifically for FEDA

Its close enough that its the first thing I think of when branching order and chaos paths are brought up. "Nothing"? Give me a break. Even Ogre Battle is similar enough to be recognizably the same genre.

"It's" is the contraction of "it is"

"Its" is the possessive of "it"

That's Der Langrisser. Langrisser 1 and 2 are completely linear.

But please continue to embarrass yourself instead of admitting your mistake.

You stupid, bro? I said in my first post that Der Langrisser is the one with branching paths.

No, you're the stupid one for thinking Langrisser is anything like Shining Force.

Try Vandal Hearts.

Shining Force has always had anthromorphic animal characters, have you even played the games?

Doesn't mean they were trying to hit on any other character or imply they had a sex drive outside of procreation though.

If someone liked Shining Force and wanted similar games, I'd list it, yes. Because its the same genre and if you played one the premise is familiar. I'd recommend Ogre Battle, too.

Great job dodging the question.

You ready to admit that Shining Force is nothing like Langrisser like a man, or are you going to keep being a loser?

>> No.1529525

Since everyone is being an idiot I think I'll be comprehensive.

Shining force is an srpg. Theres a number of other srpg series that are considered good including langrisser and fire emblem.

Theres 2 approaches to playing srpgs which I think divides players. The first is if you approach the game as a strategy game, winning by positioning, unit selection, and learning how to predict or even manipulate the enemy AI. That is to say you don't win by just grinding the units up.

If you like playing the game like this you will probably enjoy fire emblem, vandal hearts, jagged alliance 2, and enemy unknown.

The other way people play srpgs is to treat them as normel rpgs with a grid and to focus on just expirmenting with all the different builds (and to win by grinding). If this how you like to play the games you should probably play FFT and disgaia.
