MQ was concived as a game for westerners who had never played an rpg before they made it extremly simple and dumbed down (ironically its only slightly less complex than ff4).

the soundtrack is good but now that we can easily download it or listen to it on youtube you dont need to even play the game to experience its best assert

Fuck this game. First Square dumbed down IV to make it easier for us ignorant American's. They didn't bother to localize V because they thought we where to simple minded to play it. Finally, to rub salt in the wounds, they released Mystic Quest. They where even cute enough FFUSA in Japan, as a way of telling the Japanese audience: Look, we know it's stupid and shallow, but that's because it was designed for Americans. Seriously, fuck this game.

Every FF game has been shallow. That's most RPGs in general really. RPGs have historically been about the grind or exploration depending on J/W.

FF is pretty watered down anyway.

I agree with this guy, MQ is an enjoyable RPG if you just want a simple, relaxing RPG with great music. I play it every now and then and beat it in a day or less, similar to the Tenchi Muyo RPG on the Super Famicom
