You know what I fucking hate seeing in maps? Extremely narrow design setup in such a fashion that you have to play them exactly the way the map's creator intended. This is most common with any segment that features the BFG, where people seem intent on using the fucking wonky, retarded mechanics of that weapon in such a fashion that you cannot use any other weapon to overcome a challenge.

Protip, to any of the talentless fucks who do this: a hallmark of a great game is being able to approach challenges from multiple angles.

Since the designer of Arsenal can't be bothered to develop a level-up system, maybe he should try to add two subclasses to each standard class to fill out a lot of the traits that DoomRL has.

For example, Marine could branch out to Marine > Berserker and Marine > Badass.

But the best part is, since you can't remove it, you won't have to fucking worry about armor whatsoever since the armor value can't be brought down like Cybernetic Armor, and you don't have a choice anymore.

IMO, having the Rift targeted as a gaming device covers all the other forms of entertainment. Protection means how much damage the armor absorbs - for instance, vanilla Doom's green armor would have a protection of 33%. The protection level of an armor is listed in the brackets to the right of the armor. Basic green security armor has a protection level of [1/1], so it shaves off 1 point of damage that reaches the player after any resistances have already reduced it. Resistances are the first in line in protecting the player - the remainder then gets reduced further by armor before chipping off the player's health. The first 1 in the brackets refers to its current protection level, while the second 1 refers to its full protection level. Though green armor protection can't be reduced, anything stronger than it, such as blue armor, can have its protection reduced to [1/2], as opposed to [2/2], when its durability goes low.

Red armor gives resistance to fire, but you would want it anyway for its whopping [4/4] protection level.

In your example, Cerberus Armor is probably better in most cases because the scariest enemies work on plasma and fire damage (even the Mastermind's gatling gun does plasma damage) aside from the Angel of Death and the Barons and Knights which work on acid damage just to fuck with you. More importantly, Gothic Armor has a -70% movement speed modifier. I avoid it just because of that.

Boot protection is only concerned with what floor hazards you might be up against. Unfortunately, Steel Boots are too shitty to even provide resistances and only have a base protection level of 1. So, they melt in lava along with you.

This is only for DoomRL, not Arsenal.

I haven't really played much else like it, and new mappers shouldn't be expected to include or make new sprites for their map, but even the first area shows some clever use of raising the floors to craft the appearance of wooden planks strewn about the shore.
