It's okay. It starts out really slow though, mostly because you lack all the good items and firepower.

I find myself going back to Bomberman '94 the most. Saturn Bomberman is probably better, but '94's Hucard format makes it very easy to to take while traveling with the small PC Engine. Also, local 5-player support is awesome.

Here is some more footage from Hi-Ten Bomberman during the 1993 Hudson Caravan event with some english subs:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGVJTJSz9Xg

The Caravan events were held from 1987 to 1993, and each one went along with a shoot-em-up release used as part of the contest, including Gunhed,(Blazing Lazers) Super Star Soldier, Final Soldier, and Soldier Blade. Hi-Ten Bomberman was only shown at the 1993 event, and was last seen at Hudson headquarters in 2010. With Konami dissolving the company, it's whereabouts are unknown. It inspired the 10-player mode in Saturn Bomberman, minus the HD of course.

It's just insane how far Hudson has fallen since then. They were incredibly huge in the late '80's/early 90's spearheading development for the PC Engine but now they along with their franchises are pretty much gone, as Konami has no plans using Hudson franchises for anything.

Super Bomberman 2 had some great puzzles in single-player.

Battle mode is great, but are there any Bomberman games where 2 players work cooperatively?
