1482558 No.1482558 [Reply] [Original]

Hey /vr/. My friend found this old Famicom cartridge at his place, we haven't been able to find anything about it online.

We were wondering if it could be rare or even worth anything?

Does anyone here know something about it?

Thanks.

It's a bootleg multicart.

Does that make it completely worthless or not?

By definition it's very hard to be able to tell whether a bootleg cart is rare or not. It SHOULDN'T be worth much because it's not an official game, so ANYBODY can make just make their own cart like that.

Some people do however love collecting bootleg carts and some get sold at decent price. But it's hit or miss really, it depends on each cart. It also depends on which games are on there. If there are rare/expensive games on it, the price can go up a little because non emulation users like to use such carts to play rare/expensive games on the real hardware.

It does. It's from a bootleg NES/Famicon clone. They are made by counterfeit companies, I don't know how the hell they infiltrated Europe so much.
Anyway I had one of those clones. The shell of the console was imitating the SNES, the controllers were perfect SNES replicas, but it was a NES clone i.e. played NES games. I was poor as fuck as a kid, and the only way to play vidya before 1998 was to go to the Staurday fair and buy 50 in 1 cartridges from the Chinese/East European motherfuckers. There were cheap as fuck.
Only after I got internet did I realize the console I used to play in was a clone of the original NES. I still don't know what they imitated those yellow cartridges from though.

Oh, you're good. It was from a Famicom clone. I guessed immediately that the console itself is pretty worthless, but the cart was kind of interesting, especially since I couldn't find anything about it online.

What? Bootleg carts work on the original console? I thought they only worked in the clones. Granted, two of my friends had different clone models and the carts played fine in all of them.

...you don't? In Asia and parts of Europe the NES is known as the Famicom. What you had is universally known as a Famiclone. It played Famicom games, real and bootleg. It would have required a cheap pin converter to play NES games. If OP wants to know what his cartridge is worth he should check ebay for the phrase "Famicom in 1" as this will return lots of similar bootleg games.

What I meant was the actual design of the cartridges and the colors. Aren't Famicom JAP games grey and round, similar to N64 carts?
I apologise for asking, I can't google it right now, as odd as it might sound.

Most do, some don't. Some clones have extra features beyond those of the original console like keyboards and mice or even expanded pallets

Yeah, I did that already. There's alot of different ones like 112 in 1 and 104 in 1 and a bunch of ~50 in 1, there's even 999999999 in 1, I don't know what the hell that is supposed to be, but there's not a single 500 in 1.

Not that I think it could be worth anything, but I guess it's worth finding out.

No they look exactly like that, albeit with a bit higher quality plastic and molding.

>he doesn't know about based 99999999 in 1 cartridges

You're missing out bro.
It's just the same 5 or 6 games looped in a list over and over.

Shit I've been living a lie, I genuinely thought they were like I described them. Thanks for clearing that up bro.

There's not?

l2 completed auctions. There are more of them and they give a better idea of real value (sold price) not just ASKING price.

Oh, nice. Didn't find it myself. I guess I'm an idiot.

Thanks. I guess it's pretty worthless after all.

NP you were probably thinking of SUPER Famicom carts.

If it makes you feel any better I can tell from the menu that it's an "Unchained Melody" multicart, and the lister probably could have gotten a little bit more if he mentioned that. Some people really like them.

I WANT ONE OF THOSE. My Famiclone had that built into it, and I want to relive it on my NES. The menu should look something like this:

I had one of those, except with different images and it was in English. Same color cartridge. But it wasn't for a Famicom.

It was for this piece of shit. PowerZone Penguin. The cartridge juts out from his backside and it was bigger than his whole body, I think. I don't know why the cartridge was separate since that's what it seemed to be designed for. It broke really easily.
