Anyone notice how in All-Stars they got the coloration of Mario and Luigi wrong? If you play Super Mario Bros. Mario has red overalls and a blue shirt, and Luigi has green overalls and a blue shirt; the opposite of how they really are. What gives? Sprite limitations or something?

Also, is there any way to play as Luigi in SMB1 without having to select 2 player and killing Mario off?

Judging by the size of the sprite, this would be my guess. I guess it was to make the color stand out and be more distinctive.

But it's kinda weird because those sprites are all new and if you look at SMW, you can see they got the colors right. I'm not sure why this was done, now that you bring it up.

Mario originally had a blue shirt and red overalls, Luigi had a green shirt and white overalls

This might be hard for the average gamer to understand, but maybe Mario and Luigi change their clothes now and then.

Red overalls and blue shirt Mario was the official color scheme until Mario 3. Keeping them that way was simply an homage to that.

Man, it's so weird. I wouldn't notice a difference at all unless it was pointed out.

1. The swapped color was a conscious decision that they decided to reverse in later games. Look at nintendo power #1 for example, it was deliberate.

2. I don't know why you have a weegee fetish but theres probably a rom hack for player 1 luigi.

Mario wore red overalls in the original game, so he wears red overalls in the remake of the original game.

Seems pretty obvious what Nintendo were doing. It'd be like if they made a remake of Zelda 1 where Link has brown hair and his shield has a cross on it. (this would never happen because of religious butthurt, but you know what I mean)

Basically Nintendo didn't want to try and pretend Mario's overalls were always blue.

I'm more concerned that Bowser's head is green instead of yellow/orange like his body. The spiky choker simply covers the transition.

No. It's pretty dumb if you think about it. Is it really too much to ask to let us play as Luigi in one player? Seems like a pretty obvious design decision to make.

It's not "wrong", it's an intentional design choice. They updated Mario's design since the first game, and they used the updated design in their SNES remake.

Also notice that in 1/2(JP) Mario is in profile. In All-Stars Mario is in 3/4 profile as he is in the other games.

Dave quit the place years ago.

Now the only people there are Coda, (co-admin and self admited bisexual out of the closet) plus a crappy Mod called NGamer, who's literally autistic and harrased all remaining members out because he wants to take over the dead forum for himself.

Both of them are nearly 40 years old and fight/vandalize any opinion that could make them feel unconfortable or accept that they basically killed the board that Dave entrusted them.

Everyone else who used to do cool and funny things abandoned that shithole years ago. (MSPMP, which was the last active comic project, died a year ago because the author lost interest and moved on.)

Dave was a cool guy and always wondered why was that Bob and George had so many followers, especially since he openly said that the "script" was whatever he felt like pulling out of his ass.

Also, I thought the entire modstaff hated each other.

But that's wrong. The first three games in All Stars use virtually the same sprites.

>>1459565
Any way, this was to keep with the art of the original games, which did feature Mario and Luigi with their Reds/Greens swapped with their Blues.
Fun fact: They were toying with the idea of using the "correct" coloring. There are unused sprites in the game showing as much.
