I really want one of these transparent colored N64s, but i already have a black one and don't really want to buy another console. is there anywhere i can buy just the plastic shell for the console, like they have with shit like the PSP? i've been looking around everywhere and can't find anything about this, so i'm hoping someone here has experience with this

Get a real colored N64 or you are a repro faggot.
I got my jungle green one at goodwill for $40

does it really matter? i mean it's not like i'm planning on reselling it or anything, i just want it for myself because i like how the colored systems look. if there's no way to do it then yeah i'll just buy a colored one, but i wanna see if there's a way to just make the one i have already into a colored one

>> No.1426013

I think the chances of finding an empty case for one of these would be a lot less likely than just finding the system outright. Granted, it probably wouldn't cost you much, but still, that's something really specific to find and probably not very easy to do so.

Either way, the colored versions are late variants which have slightly different internals. Whether they're physically the same size internally and fit into each other I have no clue but that's something to keep in mind assuming your black one is one from 1996-1998 or so.

ok, this is new. i didn't know they changed the internals on these, i always thought they were the same system just with a different case on them

Never owned an N64 myself, but I do know anon is telling the truth on this. According to the internet, the transparent purple one is overclock-able, but the original black ones aren't.

while it's neat that you can do that, why would you? the games run fine already

Maybe if you found a colored system that is broken or being sold for parts

i've never played it with four players, is it bad?

Not that anon, but I'm assuming he's talking about playing it with the HD option on. In which case yeah, it's really that bad.

The primary colors in MODERN color theory are red, blue and green. The yellow/red/blue middle is antiquated. I bet you guys still believe in taste maps.

I had the pikachu one. My brother thought the "Press here to reset!" button said "Press here to rest" so he pressed it and lost all his OoT data. Sadness.
