Let's settle this.

Egads, there's nothing to settle, the arcade original is quite, quite inferior indeed.

I dunno anon, no shadows in the base stages is pretty shitty.

Settle what? NES version is objectively superior. Just the jumping physics alone make it better. Not to mention longer stages.

>> No.1421538

It always struck me as odd that the arcade version was a vertical monitor game when you spend most of the game shooting left and right.

Famicon version is the best

Same. And you'd think maybe they would use the extra room to give the base stages more depth, but they don't do use the extra room at all for that.

Famicom has a lot of improvements. It's kind of a remade game. It's also a lot better looking too.

Arcade also has some weird pallette/contrast too. I've never seen it on a real arcade, just emulation. And the game just played as is isn't "accurate" or look right.

There was a time when not only did Konami port one of their games for Nintendo consoles, they even put in a bit of love and made the Nintendo version a well remembered classic. Would Konami ever do that again?

As an arcade purist, I think the NES did a great job. Nintendo really did a good job with the hardware back then.

Of course. It's Capcom who would half ass it.

>> No.1422994

My only real complaint for the arcade version would be this.

If you are shooting right (east) and then slide your control to top right (NE) and keep firing you will fire one shot at an odd angle (NEE) first, which keeps fucking me over whilst waiting for the next bullet to fire.

I meant to say "Will they ever do it again", considering how Konami has all but abandoned Nintendo recently.

>> No.1424931

>>1422721

No, Konami only cares about their soccer games and Metal Gear now.

I like the soundtrack to the MSX2 version of Contra. The game itself is inferior to both the Arcade and NES version, though.

The way to avoid that when you want to shoot in a cardinal direction is to let go of a direction briefly and THEN hold up/right.

The real question here, OP, is...

Contra vs Super C?
