In this mod gold takes up one inventory space.
There are new shrines, and you see buff icon with timer when you activate them (similar to mana shield on screen).

There are also new spells added.
Or rather - imported from D2.

Classes also have skills as you saw.
I know that Warrior gets cleave, charge, and shieldwall, plus some other one.

There is also gheed npc with gamble, but for now I'm too fucking poor to gamble anything.

Magic items with negative suffices / affixes are a lot more common then they were, and there is no identify spellbook.

That means you constantly pay 100 gold for identifying items that sell for 0, and it sucks your funds early game. Also god damn spellbooks.

I find it horribly wrong that - up to now - the best games in this genre are either mods (MedianXL, this Belzebub thing), or games made by indie devs (PoE).

It should be easy to make a simple, good game like that. Yet there are almost none attempts made.

Why can't they just let the game run at higher resolutions? Why turn the game into Diablo 2 when you could just play Diablo 2 for that?
Though I have to say that even a larger view would be different from the original experience since you can aim significantly farther instead of firing blindly.

You can just "zoom in" and have the same sight range as you had in the original Diablo. Though the enemies will STILL have much longer sight range (no, I'm not wearing too much +light radius items).

And about the resolution:
This game is sprites, and sprites only. To make it "higher resolution" without zooming out you'd have to REMAKE all the sprites and animations in game in higher resolution.

This is the shit i've talked about.
Shitloads of such items. I like it.

I don't see why they would. During the alpha until the beta all of this was accomplished by one guy. As far as I know now he is working with a veteran D1 modder so it's a two man project at the moment.

I recommend this demo to anyone who is even a slight diablo 1/2 fan. It looks VERY promising. The game runs at a solid 60fps, there are various inventory functions that make the game less tedious (shift clicking to sell for example). The gameplay has been sped up by a slight margin to make playing smoother and more enjoyable. All of the additional content merges well with vanilla d1 and isn't too over the top and out of place.

Although some of the feel of the original game is lost; the atmosphere is still very much intact. When completed this mod will be a great way for people to experience diablo who were previously put off by the slower nature of the original.

Don't get me wrong i am a huge fan of vanilla d1, but something like this should have been created years ago.

It's a mod for Diablo that brings the game up to modern times you could say. It adds bigger resolution, waypoints, stash, class skills, better hud... et cetera.

It also uses the content that was previously scrapped from Diablo (butcher cinematic for example).

It also fixes many things, like limit on spell sprites per map (no more dissapearing chain lightning) or difficulties in hitting with projectiles in north-south east-west directions.

This week i will attempt to either remove the level restriction on the demo so you can progress further (unlikely) or if that is not possible boot up normal d1 using this guys enhanced engine (practically impossible). The demo boots from the file of the full game so there is at least a chance of this happening. The polish dev is retard grade paranoid about releasing the source code so it will be tough.

No, it is not Mordor. Mordor is a conservative faggot who has en ego the size of Russia despite what he claims because he doesn't want to die out like the old breed of modders who the community left because they were arrogant pricks (hence why The Dark Mod is no longer with us). Plus up until Beelzebub came out The Hell Mod was the dog dog in D1 modding, which is obviously not the case now.

The guy is working with a modder called Noktis who is responsible for the Diablo Awakening mod. I think his trust is well placed.

He responded saying he only looked around for around an hour but he believes it is possible to enable all of the characters and progress past level 4. The tileset may be locked to the one featured in the demo but all of the enemies and level layouts should be there. He hasn't replied for a few days though, hoping he is still interested in this.

If you enter the command wrong a red message comes up saying SYS : blah blah blah you did it wrong as opposed to the normal message. Interesting... Seeing as it's 9am I'm out. I'll play with this more tomorrow.
