Why does nobody talk about this gem? Picked it up in a bin and its amazing!

>> No.1409067

I really, really really hated this game. Music was nice though.

Why? Does it get frustrating? I love it, first game to hold my attention in a while.

This series just got worse with each installment

I don't really like it at all.

1 and 3 were a lot more fun to me.

>> No.1409082

I remember spending $55 on it when it first came out. I was horribly disappointed with it and have held that grudge against the series ever since. I hated it so much.

David Wise composed it, that's why the music is so good.

I had this game as a kid, and played it all the time. Never managed to beat it though.

This series was immensely influential on my childhood. The first and third in the series were my favorites, hands down.

Though I've come to realize the third one is kinda shit, with a finite amount of money, only 3 lives, no continues or passwords, and the game discouraging combat, I've realized the best thing about it was the fucking rad music.

The second one is hard as shit too but it's pretty engaging

not him but I always hated how enemy damaged worked in this game. sometimes a enemy would hit you and it does like no damage to you. then it would hit you again and one shot kill you.

still one of my favorite nes games though. like many have said, the music is fucking rad.

This was basically my experience with it. Played it to death as a kid, loved the music, but never beat it.

>>1409913
You're right, the hit detection was glitchy as fuck, completely inconsistent, and very frustrating. So were a lot of the jumps you had to make. I particularly remember one on the water level that gave me nightmares trying to make.

All that aside, the game had a certain charm that made you want to keep replaying it. It's like, hey, maybe this time while my guy slides all over the place like a buffoon, I'll find a completely new hidden area with a new treasure chest and shit.

Loved that game as a kid. I never beat it, but I had made it to the final boss fully kitted out to deal with it. I just couldn't deal with so much shit flying at me.

When I play dark souls I feel like I'm a kid again playing Iron Sword, dat rush of nostalgia. Feels good man.

>> No.1410038

The first game is vastly superior, but Ironsword is still pretty good.

I could never get into these games. I hated them as a kid, and coming back as an adult a few separate times I always walk away with the conclusion that the gameplay sucks (controls, hit detection). Obviously many people don't find that to be the case, but I've given up. Great music, though.

Wizards and Warriors I is better.
The second one is a disappointment and the third one is "in the middle".

Densetsu no Kishi Elrond takes some of the goofier aspects of W&W and streamlines it. I suppose it may make it easier, but the HP meter makes trickier areas much less stressful.
