Do you bother to play games on the Commodore 64? I have one and a lot of games I want to play, but I never bother because the games take forever to load, and the computer itself + disk drive + datasette player are fucking huge. Also, no games, at least the ones I own, have no way of saving, so I must start all over again each time.

I end up never playing C64.

Can't you get a peripheral which takes SD cards and pretends to be a floppy / tape drive?

I have a C128D which is massive as fuck. 7 kg, 43cmx38cmx10cm.
I haven't played in ages, it's easier to emulate it and other platforms.
Save feature was mainly used for the larger games that filled one or more floppy. I often just let the computer running over night for prolonged sessions.

Yes. There's one made specifically for the C64 for about $70 and there's a $100+ one that works on tons of retro computers including C64.

Emulate with WinVICE

I only emulate, even though I have four C64s and a C128. The disks are going, anyway.

I've an Amiga 1200 I keep wanting to actually play.
I even have the CF HDD, CF Adapter for burning .adfs onto disks.
I even have 1500 new, sealed disks waiting to have games put on them.

But I spend my time mindlessly browsing internet.

On the Amiga?

Nah. That'll likely be my next project though.

I always do this with my Amiga or with mods to big games like Oblivion or Skyrim- I spend forever setting it up, getting it just how I like it, then I play for 5 mins and turn it off.

This is one of those cases where emulation is better than the real deal, unless of course you have JiffyDOS installed or a fastload cart.

Fixed.

I somewhat miss the sounds of the floppy drive.

Micro64 can do that.

My 64 is long gone but I still emulate some times. What game do you want to save in? Spy hunter because you think it actually has an end you can reach?

Reminds me of this song:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=PT5VIomA904

They made a song partly using the sound of the floppy drive.

It doesn't sound the same to me and it's missing the vibrations.
Did the 1541 and 1571 sound differently?

>> No.1404991

>>1404161
Yes, very much so. But nothing can compare the the Amiga floppy. They nearly doubled the grind volume and the click volume was a whole 3.5x as loud. With the 2000 they added a steel echo chamber for a case to enhance the effect even further.

First thing I had to do with Micro64 was turn off the filter that made the screen blurrier than my shitty TV did with an RF connection.
