I've heard Final Fantasy Adventure or Mystic Quest (what it was called in Europe) is supposed to be great. Haven't played it yet, though.

Everyone seems to overlook Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins. It's a pretty refreshing platformer.

Pocket Bomberman
all the Wario games
Looney Tunes
Super Mario Land I and II
Kirby's Dreamland
Pokemon
Link's Awakening

But most importantly, there was one game that really changed my perception of the game boy as a kid and it wasn't until 2002 when somebody let me borrow it. Metroid II is the most badass Game Boy game I ever played. You're missing out OP, but it's never too late to experience PORTABLE GOLD.

is that a mod or an actual gameboy release?

My nigga. Metroid II should be up there on top 10 lists with Link's Awakening and Wario Land, but everyone seems to hate it. For an original Game Boy game it has wonderful depth, and while it had slightly more repetitive areas than others the series, it honestly felt more exploration-oriented than metroid I or super metroid. You had these huge areas to explore that hugely outsized the screen, and finding a metroid wasn't always straightforward.

Other than what has already been said, OP, play Trip World. Just do it.

Metal Gear Solid OP. It's probably the best 2d Metal Gear game. It was released as "Metal Gear: Ghost Babel" (get it? MG:GB. Eh? Ehhh?). If you dig Metal Gear games it serves as an alternate sequel to the original MG where MG2:Solid Snake and the MGS series never happens. In fact, it tamales place in the ruins of Outer Heaven. The original mech makes a cameo in a state of disrepair.

Damn, spellcheck be fuckin' up for you, huh?

Second the Ghost Babel recommendation, though. It's damn fine.

Both of the Oracle games.

Ages' gimmick is a rod that lets you warp between the past and the future, with two different maps for each, and it works pretty well in practice. It's much more focused on puzzles than combat, but it's still got plenty of both.

Seasons, in contrast, has a rod which lets you change the four seasons at will, and it has a larger emphasis on combat than puzzles.

Both are really good games regardless, and they're connected in ways that will become apparent as you advance through them.

Lol yeah. Damn iPhone. Tamales place? Lulz. Not to mention it cut out the part where I said "outside of the US". If you're a Euro fag, you'll be happy to know that gem wouldn't exist if Konami Europe didn't commission the game.

god bless, FFL1 and 2 were both great fucking games. minimalistic that let the imagination fill in the blanks, with addictive gameplay that kept me hooked.

my only gripe is that ffl2 was pretty much at the mercy of rng when you got around the final parts of the game because of how tough normal fights were, and i thought it would be something that I could pick up on after replaying with when i got older, but even with grinding and fighting appropriately, some battles were near impossible

I remember playing those games in the late 90's after playing through FF7. Got them at Funcoland (god I miss that place). I thought I'd be playing a comparable game. I loved them for what they were, but I was confused and disappointed.
