Favorite FF1 team?
I played the original on NES several times since childhood, and I'm about to try pic related.
Any tips/changes I should be aware of?

Good idea.

I usually did this in the original.

I heard they fixed levelling in this; its not a pain in the ass anymore. True?

No clue. I'm just going off of the original. It was never really a pain in the ass with that party.

Magic users in Dawn of Souls are incredibly overpowered, go with that if you want easymode.

I really don't want an easy mode. Maybe a wmage, warrior, thief, and monk?

You'll have a really really fucking hard time getting to the class upgrade, but once you do you'll practically demolish every encounter afterwards.

You probably know but in FF2 train all the characters that die off. Make sure they are ready for the after game.

I wasn't intending to play it again. I really dislike the levelling system in 2

I always liked the fighter, thief, white mage, monk team.

Easy Mode is any team with Magic. Go Fighter, Thief, Thief, Black Mage and try to beat the game no later than level 20. Anything past that and any team becomes a group of gods.

This is my usual party. I would use Black Mage instead of Red Mage if all his wizard spells weren't 1-hit kill spells.

>> No.1372935

I'm actually either thinking of doing Fighter, Fighter, whitemage, and blackmage, or Fighter Redmage, whitemage and blackmage.

However, the only time I've beaten the gamenwas with an 8-bit theater team, Fighter, Thief ,Redmage, Blackmage. I got through the game fine, but thief felt like the weakest link.

My current party

>> No.1373852

I want to play through FF1 or FF2 again, however, I want to do a mod. Anyone have a recommendation so I can get lost in it?

>> No.1373907

First thing's first, if you want to have a little fun and not rape the crap out of everything, no doubles. If you really want to impose a challenge but have a fun at the same time, no fighter. The white mage is fair in any non all 4/solo run (granted the all 4 run isn't white mages which is a hell I do not wish upon any man). Here's a few combinations to choose from.
Red mage Monk Black mage White mage.
Red mage Thief Monk White mage
or if you want the fighter
Fighter Red mage Black mage White mage
Fighter Red mage Monk White mage (this is probably a good starter party)

>> No.1374206

>>1372314
No what he means is that once you beat the game, there is a second game involving the characters that have passed while in your party.

You level them up real nice and by the time you unlock it, you will have some beefy characters.

NES is alright but too buggy to play nowadays. Found a wonderful Romhack that fixed most of the bugs in it. Sadly I can't find it.
PSX is the best unpatched. If you pick hard and set it to only target the creature you selected then it plays just like the NES just with the bugs fixed.
Anything past that is too easy. They got rid of the spell charges and replaced with MP. And Exp and gold is handed to you like candy so you never really need to grind.

As for party I actually just did a fighter only. Thought it would be annoying because of the lack of gold to get armor but found that most enemies deal 1 damage with gear I found a couple of dungeons past. So it really is easy mode. Just have to deal with having to buy tons of potions and stuff like antidotes.
Normally I just do Fighter, Black Belt, Black Mage, and White Mage.

Gave my Thief the Masamune, Warrior had the Ragnarok iirc, White Mage had Ultima Weapon and Black Mage casted spells. Also OP the PSP one oa the same as the GBA but looks pretty.
