Alright /vr/, I come to all of you in a time of desperation. Recently I purchased a PSone. The PSone, after being tested in front of me at the retro game store, worked perfectly fine. So I came home and plugged it in and the controller didn't work. So I went back to the store and asked for another controller because mine wasn't working. So the guy at the store found another one, tested it in store and it worked perfectly fine. So I brought it home and plugged it in, and it had the same problem.
So I took both the controller and the system back to the store in the hopes that I could exchange it for a working console and controller. I explained what happened to the guy behind the counter and he went in the back and found another working controller and system, hell he even tested it in front of me. So I took it home and it had the same exact problem as the console before.
I was pretty pissed off by now so I purchased a really nice PSX controller off of ebay, that was tested to work perfectly fine. So I took the working controller and the system into the store and asked if I could exchange my PSone for a PSX. The employee said that was perfectly fine and he took out a really nice looking PSX, tested it with my controller in store, and it worked perfectly fine. When I brought it home it still did not work and was experiencing the same problems as before. I've never heard of something like this before and I'm getting really annoyed because it seems to only not work at my house. Please help me /vr/, is there a fix to this problem? Is there something I'm doing wrong?

>TL;DR I've gone through 2 PSones and a PSX and all of them are having unexpected problems

Are you sitting the system on top of a huge magnet or something?

Try it at a friend's place. If it works then, but not for you I don't know what to tell ya man. Your house is haunted by some sort of Sony controller hating ghost.

When you take them back to the store do they work or are they broken for good?
Maybe your house is having power surges or something and killing them.
