How do you feel about Startropics, /vr/?

>> No.1364026

I played the first one, it was real fun, and pretty hard at times.

>> No.1364028

vastly underplayed.

Many complaints about modern Zelda seemingly fit this games profile like no Zelda or gdorf.

Hopefully one day this game will see a rise in its fan base.

>> No.1364031

Too bad it was never released in Japan. The end result is that Nintendo doesn't really care about it.

>> No.1364032

Dat fucking cemetery dungeon.

Game doesn't hold your hand, neither.

I remember playing the shit out of this game as a kid but strangely enough I cannot remember anything about the game itself

Sounds like the perfect game for you to replay and rediscover.

Give the IP to Retro studios.

They've done two Nintendo ips justice and since star tropics was a western IP to begin with, it would be interesting to see them try their hand.

Refrain from turning power off or resetting.

Beyond many years since I last played. Wonder if my save is still in tact, probably not though...

Either 7-4-7 or 4-7-4, I forget which but it is one of those.

Perhaps, but I've got so much shit on my backlog I'll probably be senile before I get around to it

747, like the jetliner.

I just beat this game last year, and man did this game ever kick my ass after the grave yard.

my favourite NES game.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one. I keep wishing that Mike could use nanto shinken, the bosses in this game always fuck me.

I find it fascinating that despite being made by Nintendo, this game was never released in Japan. How often does that even happen? And not just for regional differences (like how Elite Beat Agents was released in the West while Ouendan was the same thing in Japan)

>> No.1364916

>>1364062
I'm not sure that they're up to the challenge, they're better at emulating and recreating old Nintendo than they are at making new ideas come alive. Plus StarTropics seems a much different game than Metroid or Donkey Kong. I don't know if they could handle it.

>> No.1364920

Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters for GB was only released in Japan like 20 years later on the 3DS eShop.

>Swinging the yo-yo at every beat of the dungeon theme.
I hope I'm not the one who did this.

>> No.1365893

I enjoyed the hell out of Star Tropics.

Never got around to playing the second game though...

>> No.1365904

I love this game was and still is my Fav NES game of all time. i also like the sequel Zoda's Revenge. I really wished it mafe it past the NES at the time. I would of love to have seen how it would have fared on Snes or later consoles for that matter.

I'd rather it go to Next Level considering how well they treated the revival of another certain game from the same dev team.

>> No.1367683

Startropics is great. The fact that Nintendo has summarily ignored it ever since the second is a real damn shame. Not even a cameo in any games. Not even a trophy in Brawl! It's reprehensible.

I didn't know about it until a friend of mine told me it is his favorite game. He can play every song in the game on piano with improv

>>1367682
This is weird because all Punch Outs were well received and sold quite well, the NES one, Super Punch Out and the Wii One.
It is like Nintendo decided to ignore a profitable franchise for 2 gens just because.

I would love it if Nintendo revived Startropics.

>> No.1370619

>>1364062

StarTropics is my favorite game of all time and personally I'd like for it to remain untouched. The franchise gave us two great games and ended--let it rest forever.

>>1364972

I derived some much entertainment from shootin' the yo-yo to the beat. StarTropics may have been lacking on its amount of tracks, but the ones it did have were among the best available on the NES. I personally enjoy the ending tracks the most aside from the dungeon theme.

>> No.1373019

If Ninty were to revive the IP, would you prefer a remake or StarTropics III?
