The thing that really baffles me is that creating a good add-on isn't really that hard. It takes a little legwork, yeah, but all of the information is there.
Corridor 7 guy was good, and Kyle Katarn is fucking amazing. Doom64guy is a little generic, yeah, but also good and has everything. Hell, Doom64guy and Katarn were made by first-timers who never coded before, so it's not like you have to be THE BEST to make a good add-on.

But everyone wants to play as Caleb, the shittiest add-on around.

I don't think they're terrible, and Blake Stones silent pistol makes him different enough in single player that I actually enjoy him, but they need balance and a little more tender lovin to be worth running on a server.

Thing works too, and is surprisingly lightweight, considering the amount of barrels.

It's ridiculously expensive though, it costs well over 1000 dollars, it costs like 8 or 9 times as much as any regular double-barrel.

They make a short version as well, but I think it's below 18 inches in barrel-length, so that'll make it an NFA item.

Actually, it's a misnomer, entirely.

The chaingun should reasonably be called a Gatling gun, because it's a weapon with multiple barrels in an assembly, that take turns firing (it also presumably has one bolt and carrier for each barrel). It makes no sense to have that setup for a weapon that fires as slow as the Doom Chaingun, but that's what it is.

To be called a chaingun, it'd have one barrel, and the action would be linked to an engine by a chain, which would drive the gun. Hence the name chaingun.
It's usually some class of light artillery, such as an Autocannon.

Hm, well this is annoying. When switching to and from the wand in its powered state, the weapon flickers like crazy. I used a_jumpifinventory checks on the select and deselect states to see if the weapon is in the powered state, then I made new states of staffselect and staffdeselect. Mechanically it works fine but that flickering looks like shit.

I liked Rage, megatextures are going to be more and more prominent as time goes on. The new Carmageddon is using them which looks promising. The game ran well on my shit computer, and it lagged with minecraft so Carmack is still a baller coder, but hes not a "game designer", which is where Romero came in handy.

As for the levels, I thought the whole game was pretty well-made, in terms of mapping. There was a lot of verticality to take full advantage of jumping and flight abilities; some of the levels almost felt Quake-ish. Overall I think Darkmere was my favorite level. I don't dislike Edward850 because he's a grown ass man that has a youtube channel dedicated to making fun of teenagers who don't have a full understanding of a proprietary coding language and have the disadvantage of posting on an english forum when their first language isn't english.

I dislike him because he's a weird creepy asshole. I know because I made the mistake of going to quakecon with him. I went as part of a group to share costs, and he was a friend of a friend who I didn't know beforehand.

He went dressed up as "Professor Layton" except all he did was wear a suede jacket over his t-shirt and cargo shorts and wear tortoise rim glasses without any lenses in them. He introduced himself as "the lead game dev and loremaster of zdoom." He spent the first couple of hours tagging along with us, insisting on stopping when we came across a kid when he would ask their parents if he could take a picture of their child "for netcode purposes" and then turn and wink at us. We left him after two parents called security and he pretended to only speak german when the security guards asked him questions, saying "einz? einz? einz?" in an exaggerated teutonic accent. I don't even think "einz" is a german word.

He must have sorted it out because we saw him later trying to walk away from a booth with like sixteen archvile pewter minatures without paying. The lady at the booth was very nice about it and professional and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be "german" again and shaking his hands speaking fake german, but eventually turned back and paid for them.

I never even implied that it was easy. Of course it's a ton of work, but the Zandronum devs seemed (for a while, anyway; they're finally getting their shit together, even if it's only being updated to 2.5.0) more interested in implementing oldschool settings for the competitive crowd who already have two ports dedicated to "muh vanilla feel". Okay so first off, please disregard my poor artistic ability, it's just a mockup. Once I get some proper coloration on the various bars to visually distinguish them, it'll be clearer. But shapewise and layout, this is how I ultimately picture it.

The extra icons next to the powered sword and wand icons are to indicate when the player has enough energy to use the primary and secondary on the powered sword, and to show the player has enough energy for the secondary for the staff's altfire.

Also I'm not pleased with the powered sword's altfire, I'm going to retool it to make work like a classic DnD cleave attack, which essentially means it's going to be a melee based, smaller scale BFG.

Getting them online is pretty easy, just have to zdoom.exe -host (number of players that you cannot change once it's started and won't start unless you have this number of players)

I'm trying to think of fun arcade-styled powerups to add, here's what I got so far:

Gauntlet: Double attack speed of the sword
Magic circlet: double attack speed of the wand/staff
red magic potion: infinite wand mana for a short time
white magic potion: infinite sword mana for a short time
ethereal sword: infinite sword rage for a short time
magic shield: reduces damage temporarily
Yashichi: instant maxed out health, armor, and mana
Food items: replaces the stimpacks and medpacks
Armor: self explanatory
Crystal ball: full map and reveals enemies on the map for the duration of the level

the thought crossed my mind, I'm gonna eventually get this set up where all weapon drops are replaced with -any- of those powerups via random drops, though obviously the value of the weapon being replaced will have lower odds, so your odds of getting a white potion from a shotgun zombie are low, but if you were to go somewhere in a map where a BFG would normally spawn, the odds of you finding a white potion would be high.

Spheres are gonna have a smaller pool consisting of the big stuff like the infinite mana potions, Yashichi, etc. I'm hoping the addition of these powerups will add a little more variety.

Earlier I was playing around with your mod and I tried to grapple a lost soul but missed because I have bad aim, and the grapple instead hit the wall and pulled me to the wall. I don't think that was supposed to happen, and I couldn't replicate the glitch.
